    Is it wrong?

I've been playing since 2018 and have never really had a taste for ultimates and savage. I never got a static and never really had reliable players on in fc (not because they're bad just time zones and life) so I run a lot of roulettes and normal content and I personally feel it's challenging enough for me in this type of game. I play on ps5 and have gotten so used to controller I could probably do ok in savage but I hate snap shot aoes and insta death mechanics in any game. I play a lot of fighting games and love my old school platformers and souls likes but my drive for challenge is ranked matches in fighting games. I've heard a lot over the years about this casual/hard-core topic and both sides spit venom at each other or about each other sometimes but is it really wrong for people who like the normal content and just augment with the coins? I find the DT content completely fine and I enjoyed the m1 to m4 and people still die to mechanics all the time but the ilvl disparity has always only been 5 so does it really matter I'm waiting to to augment my weapons later and don't care they're quetzali 720s right now?

I don't think it is wrong. Different strokes for different folks.. I've raided in Coils, vaguely in Gordias, and again on O1S (Before I got seriously bored from it), then I raided again in Eden's Verse, finished the tier.. Enjoyed E5S, E6S and E8S.. Most of it anyway.. But I generally can't deal with modern design because of visual bloat across the board and visual impairment. Also another reason why Eden's Verse was the last time I bothered.

Most of the time, people don't actually care if you clear something or not, provided you're upfront and aren't involving or interjecting in a conversation where you have no business doing such.. Much like how people commenting on the story whilst simultaneously skipping all cutscenes annoys people that enjoy story/casuals.. Likewise how people who have never raided commenting on raiding. I am in almost full augmented crafted, with some Quetzali.. I just get whatever I craft, in addition for whatever I get when I do hunts on occasion

Anyone caring outside of that is just on a weird little ego trip over a video game, and tie far too much of their identity and worth over whether they have cleared something or not. - A lot of times people will just play this game for what they enjoy and then play something else if that game offers a more engaging experience.

If you're wrong, then so is the majority of the player base.

It's fine. I've only ever done BLU Savage for achievements. Damage/body/heal checks end up being a necessary evil for this content to prevent it from being trivialized. If you're not enjoying the learning process, then you're ultimately (pun not intended) rewarded with early access to a mount and music roll and gear that isn't needed elsewhere, which obviously isn't worth the endless head-bashing from my position. It is funny though how people struggle to even do P4S unsynced right now which effectively has a single tower mechanic.

On the contrary, most of the normal raids are too easy. The tankbuster in M1 only removes half a tank's HP unmitigated and wiping is impossible with how telegraphed everything is. It's only exacerbated by the bad item level syncs.

Thanks guys, I wanted to make it clear I don't have an issue with harder content then normal stuff. I feel like the more the merrier for everyone but I kinda like being a 727 pld and steam rolling expert roulette taking jack for damage

It's not wrong. The game is designed to have a "normal" version of each content so that you can enjoy it even if you aren't into raiding and just want to see the story.

I do agree with you that there are deaths in normal content. But I would say I have seen this most in:
    • Leveling dungeons or first max level dungeon (due to the tight sync).
    • First times in dungeons (due to not knowing mechanics) or specific trials (X.3 trials like Final Steps, Tsukuyomi, WoL, etc).
    • Endwalker and Dawntrail trials (Babaricca, Golbez, Abyssal Fracture, Gilded Araya, Everkeep, etc).
    • Normal Raids (when they don't suffer to poor syncs)
    • Alliance Raids (when they don't suffer to poor syncs)
But even among normal content where "you see deaths" that can have a time limit because they sync it very poorly and never revisit it.

It’s not weird to like one but not the other because IMO they feel like totally different games. It’s like how playing a fighting game against the cpu opponents feels very very very different than playing against a human despite them being two parts of the same game. I’m not sure why you’d feel as if there’s some obligation to engage with each type of content in the game anyway (at least it sounds like that’s what you’re saying to me). Like I’m not going to bother with Eureka or Bozja because I don’t find them interesting, and I won’t play fighting games against the cpu for the same reason.

Although not having a static or FC doesn’t need to be a deterrent because Party Finder is an option, especially more so when the content is newly released and it’s more popular. Just don’t waste too much time in parties where people are messing up so much that it becomes obvious they can’t get to the point the party is trying to prog.

It’s going to be hard to tell how well you’re currently playing since since normal mode content doesn’t teach us or require the skills that are asked for in Savage or higher. For example you can’t tell if you’re doing your rotation properly in normal content since just pressing whatever buttons still is enough to win. It’s again comparable to playing fighting games, where sometimes people might win a lot against the cpu but not know how to play against a human that understands the game. But if you try the higher end content and take your time to learn the mechanics and your job you’ll likely be able to do fine, especially if you enjoy challenging games.

At the end of the day, it's your free time. Spend it how you think it's best.

As for snapshots, typically they happen at the end of the cast bar. Nothing special unless the connection between you and the server is janky then you get some weird stuff going on.

I like when people talk about “learn your job” “learn the game mechanics” like, get real. There’s nothing to learn this game is absolutely braindead. But at least you can feel important eh?
