    Brand new player hello/help

Hello all, brand new player to the Final Fantasy MMO scene [didnt play 11 either] but with 2.0 around the corner and hearing quite good things about it, i thought i would jump in to this one.
Only other MMO that i have played was City of Heroes so the experience of this game so far is 100% new to me. I must admit that i am so far VERY impressed with the game and all the potential information that i have to take in to get to a decent level on here.

Currently i am level 10 on the Excalibur server but was wondering if anybody could point me to any good guides about jobs/skills/quests so i could learn the basics at least. Really enjoying this game so looking forward to reading up on those guides to help me enjoy the game even more [yes i found the ingame tutorial about them not very clear].

Your question is a bit broad, so I'm not sure if I can answer it quickly. Since you're completely new, the best thing you can do is find a new-player friendly linkshell (like a guild) on Excalibur to help you out.

Regarding skills, you can actually see all the skills for your current class in the Actions and Traits menu, even ones you haven't unlocked yet.

Reading all the guides on the Lodestone will also probably answer many of your questions, e.g. to learn about jobs, on the main Lodestone page scroll down and look for Classes and Jobs in the Play Guide section.

If you have any other questions that aren't answered through the Lodestone, Robert's been here giving amazing and wonderful advice pretty much since launch. There are lots of people around who have tons of knowledge and are willing to share it with noobs like you and I. So feel free to come back and ask.

One tip I'd offer is to consider leveling all your classes to around level 10. Besides just giving you some diversity in gameplay, the first 10 or so levels tend to have some really good basic skills that can be equipped on all your classes. For example, leveling Pug to 6 will give you Second Wind, which is an automatic self-heal. You can then equip Second Wind on any other class. So leveling Pug to 6 will help all your classes.

    Some other helpful cross-class skills:
Conjurer: Cure (2), Protect (6), and Raise (18)
    Arc: Decoy (2), and Hawk's Eye (6)
    Glad: Rampart (2)
    Lnc: Feint (4), Invigorate (14)
    Marauder: Bloodbath (6)

Oh! One other tip: Like Robert said, find a Linkshell. The game is so much more fun -- and so much more easy -- when you're playing with other people. The community in FFXIV is generally great -- mature, knowledgeable players -- and they'll keep you coming back and playing for a long, long time.
