Why so many 18+ related player events in the party finders

Children have no business there. It's not even made for children.
And 16 year old people are more active in sexual stuff than many adults. They are technically underage, but I guess they are more badass when it comes to that stuff than most 30+ players. xD
Kids under 16 should not be in online MMO's like this one, in general.

You're not wrong, but that's a parenting problem, not a problem that is the responsibility of the GMs in said video game.

If someone's venue advertisement is explicit, you can report it, but if all it's doing is making you uncomfortable by it existing, that's a you problem.

Nobody is forcing you to go to those parties. You can use the duty type filters to look for the kind of content that you actually want to find parties for. I've never seen an 18+ venue advertised in a Hunt or FATE listing.

I also don't care when shouts contain the word 18+. To be honest, I find it rather ridiculous when people try to ruin other people's fun in a 'game' just because they personally don't like something or want to bring children into FF14, which is a game for 15/16+ originally. It's not SE's fault when other countries make a weird age rating.

So? SE can decide what they want or do not want to moderate. And if any authority (usually spurned into action by some overzealous "citizen" movement) finds that SE is not doing enough moderation to justify the lower rating, the end result will most likely be more moderation of this kind of behavior instead of increasing the age rating. That's why it's important that the part of the community engaging in these activities actually starts to gain some bloody self awareness and police themselves to be as low-profile as possible. At the very least out of pure self-preservation, because appealing to some sense of basic decency and morality is obviously a lost cause.

No offense, I don't even do any of this nsfw stuff and I *STILL* prefer to keep my company 18+ in general. So if I were to recruit or announce any social activities, I'd make it 18+ as well. I just don't like interacting with minors, they generally just aren't level-headed yet - and it's also just an annoying walk on eggshells with them around.

The ESRB rating is Teen. The description associated with that rating, as described on the ESRB site itself includes:

Blood
Language
Sexual Themes
Use of Alcohol
Violence

The Japanese rating is "Cero C", which is 15+.

The general European rating is "PEGI 16", which is 16+

But most countries make their own rules and ignore that.
Why? I really don't know. :/

You know in Heavensward and Stormblood, back when we actually had a game, this sort of topic wouldn't even come up in the first place because everyone is busy playing the game.

Now it's different. The existence of these venues and mods allow SE to get away with producing nothing, making patch cycles take 1-1.5 months longer than before, and pumping out garbage, formulaic AI-tier slop every patch.

They don't care about fixing their netcode because anyone who cares already got Alexander or NC.

They don't care about their graphic overhaul barely doing anything because everyone who cares already uses Reshade and textures.

They don't care about their atrocious uninformative UI because any raider who cares already use plugins that solve that.

They don't care about pumping out garbage formulaic content because players will make their own fun by ERPing with each other.

Such is the state of FF14 in 2025. Actually already started in 2022 but now it's entrenched.

If anyone actually wants a real game get out of MMOs.

Just because I don't care when adult people do private adult stuff, that does not mean that I don't care for the bad state and problems of the game. ^^"
But normally when talking about problems there was an army of whiteknights attacking everyone that he/she is just burned out.

You're never going to get rid of advertisements for products you don't like. Not in a video game, not in real life. That's censorship and is generally considered to be a bad thing. Driving along the Interstates in the US, you're bomboarded with advertisements for 18+ massage parlors and strip clubs aimed at the truckers. They don't ban the advertisements because the ads themselves aren't explicit, but everyone knows exactly what they are really advertising.

The 18+ indication is meant to protect the people hosting the parties. And meant to be a KEEP OUT sign to anyone who isn't interested in.

A better solution, and one that SE could actually address with an in game fix, would be allow us to choose which tab of the Party Finder that we personally want to load into when we open the menu, instead of the general one. That way the people who want to see the advertisements for clubs with live DJs could keep the general tab pinned as their start, and people who want to be in Hunts could have that one load as the default.

I'm gonna go make that suggestion right now in the UI forum, actually, because it's a lot more constructive than arguing about it in General.
