Doubling down on a broken system is only going to make FFXIV lose more players. They've added more glamour plates and increased the amount of gear a single character can store, and the same issues are still present. We got more wards already, and an entirely new residential district. The system is broken beyond repairs and needs an overhaul.

1. Double the amount of Wards
2. Add a 3rd subdivision to each existing Ward
3. Make plots MUCH cheaper (example 10k gil for small, 100k gil for medium & 500k for large).
3b. Remove the lottery system.
4. Make the permits Free, or a very low sum like 1000 gil.
5. Make apartmets cheaper (example 1000 gil) and FC apartments Free.
6. Let your alts have access to your house.
7. Let us place Glam Dresser & Armoire inside our houses.

Explanation of all points.
1+2: More wards & additional subdivisions let more players get their own estate.
3+3b: Making the plots cheaper make them more accessible for new players, and players who doesn't have much gil, and with more plots available the lottery system would become redundant.
4+5: This just goes hand in hand with the previous points, making them cheaper would mean letting more people have access to them.
6: Why can't MY alt use MY house? That's just silly, so instead make them account bound.
7: I don't see the harm in having them accessible in your own house. If anything that would just be more convenient.

Oh and replying with "It can't be done because spaghetti code" is not a valid reply, just fix the game already, get programmers & coders that are competent enough to fix these kids of issues in 2025...

The WoW studio only works on WoW. The Destiny studio only works on Destiny. Overwatch team only works on Overwatch. Sure within each company there is some crossover depending on labor demand but you're being naive if you don't think Yoshi P and SE are intentionally stretching CBU3 thin to maximize what they can squeeze out of the team to maximize profits.

And no, they cannot fix it because they don't have the manpower. The senior team is all working on other games. They left a skeleton crew in charge of FF14.

They'll never fix it, I looked at how enthusiastic they were about being able to have a different interior and in future size interior for houses and thought to myself,
"This is cool but from a technical standpoint this is something not impressive at all, the fact that you have to actually work to make this possible shows how bad a state it is in."

I'm tired of the spaghetti code argument. It hasn't been a valid argument in years. They CAN fix the code, and they have, because otherwise we wouldn't be getting QOL updates like being able to use glamour plates in sanctuaries outside of town or an overhaul of the blacklist system (which has its own problems, tbf, but my point stands). They do absolutely have the manpower and the skill to bring the code up to snuff. They just choose not to. WHY they choose not to is debatable whether or not it's a valid argument, but to say that they CAN'T is misguided at best, and willfully ignorant at worst.

ETA: also, it's unreasonable in the extreme to expect a development team to not work on other games, lmao.

New games can't even optimize the engine they use, so you have to overcome the limitation with sheer hardware power the gamer has to provide to clutch this - With Monster Hunter Wilds being the most recent big title having that issue.
They *could* do it better - But they do not.

What do you think is supposed to happen to your money, has it never occurred to some of you that the money you spend is actually supposed to go towards improving things? I know a lot of us are American which makes like 90% of you easily susceptible to accepting every single blatant lie a billionaire ever tells you but MAN. At a certain point it's like, are people blind-is playing through brail the new meta or what. FFXIV is a subscription based game, I expect those millions upon millions of dollars to go into the game that we're playing, not 42 other FAILED projects along with nice watches and rings to flash during Live Letters.

I don't wanna hear "it strains servers" ok then get new servers. WoW is doing it just fine. Other games do these things just fine, so why can't FFXIV? "spaghetti code" well they should have fixed that when spent who knows how long ""upgrading"" the graphics. "It's too expensive to-" No it isnt, FFXIV is the highest paying game the company has. That doesnt add up. How the game a huge success, yet can't afford to do a single thing different without immediately going into bankruptcy? It's not that they can't, it's that without any pressure, they won't. and the more you guys sit here and keep trying to defuse pressure, the longer it takes to get anything that isnt another hildebrand legs in the air quest.

OP was right in the majority of what they suggested, if not all of it.
Rubber needs to hit the road. They wanna stay a top game? They need to start acting like one.
More subdivisions, more houses, cheaper costs-getting a house should not be this hard in this game anymore. It's no longer acceptable.
Enough of this formula garbage too. Return to innovation. New ideas, huge efforts. FFXIV is way too comfortable right now.

before the lottery system RMT bots bought the houses and sold them for 50 - 250 usd they would flood the waiting Que and buy up all the houses.

Yet before the lottery system is when almost everyone I know (myself included) managed to buy plots multiple times.

Also had the freedom to sell, relocate and swap plots with other players before they implemented the invisible cooldown to purchase plots. We were able to purchase plots the moment they became available.
