Unlike FL, Rival Wings requires mechs and secondary objectives to win and more than it does zerging players against each other, as with FL, if you have a team with relatively decent knowledge of the game and a good commander making the right callouts your team can win.

Even if 24 people were all premade squads of 4, the likelihood of all of them being on the same team is pretty low.
Sorry if this comes off a bit salty, but there are some undeniable facts about this mode: it only stays alive during Moogle events. And even then, it’s not actually "popular"—it survives thanks to a small dedicated group. I can’t speak for NA, but in EU this past week, we’ve barely seen around 100 people playing Rival Wings at peak times.

With such a low player pool, the randomness of team sorting is almost nonexistent, making premades significantly stronger. Most of the time, you have a 50/50 chance of getting queued together—especially considering that if you start the queue at the same time, you're very likely to end up in the same match. And let’s be real, that’s not even hard to coordinate, even in Frontlines.

Adding a Rival Wings roulette would definitely help increase the player pool and reduce this issue—I get that. But as it stands, the current state of this mode is far from ideal.
