The wards themselves are not instanced, they are permanently loaded, which is why “just add more wards” is a problematic “solution” to making sure there’s enough housing plots for everyone.

One could dream, and hope the devs saw our disappointment that Island Sanctuary did not end with us getting a housing plot on our islands, and decide to give us a biodome on the moon (complete with holographic technology for choosing our background scenery!) for Cosmic Exploration! A large chunk of MSQ to get through until you could reach it, but at least you would know at some point you’re guaranteed an actual plot.

Irrelevant, it is like when areas are going to receive more instances as well due to various updates and so on and so forth.

You have is it now 24 permanent instanced wards and each plot has an instanced house, and FC.s has instanced built in apartments as well.

Sorry if I misunderstood, but I don't think you're multiplying it up correctly.

Right now there's 85 servers, each of those has 5 housing locations, each of those areas has 2 divisions and each of those divisions has 30 wards.

That's 25,500 zones that are active, all the time, just for housing.

I'm not saying I necessarily agree with how they're doing things for housing, but I can certainly see why it's not that easy for them to just scale it up.
