    Overworld update for casual players.

    Hello guys !

I'm kinda noobish at using the forum so I'm sorry if this has been posted before..

I was thinking about the overworld lately and tried to imagine a way to make it more appealing at higher level.
Basically each expansion we get a new world to explore and we move on to the next as soon as a new expac comes out.
IMO old zones should be reworked to remain relevent.

Here the idea is to target casual players :

A FATE that would spawn in old zones.
These fates would not appear on the map but certain NPC would give you clue and ideas about the location of the FATE. The NPC could be random, a member of the Scions or a previous encounter.
The player would have to explore a specific zone.s
This FATE would feature either a BOSS fight or a Golden Saucer-like event.
These type of FATES would give good exp for leveling up the newest jobs and drop random gear pieces from previous old raids (ARR/Heavensward/Stormblood) usable by all jobs.

It's nothing insane but I think small things like this could help revitalize previous region we barely visit anymore...???

If you guys like this idea somewhat, what would you add to make it better ?

    This happens.

Although they don't give a clue about the location, roleplay NPCs do often appear somewhere on the map when a FATE spawns. For example, when Foxy lady spawns there is a Namai Elder NPC that spawns. During the other FATEs, Mikuzume is somewhere on the map experiencing trauma.
This FATE would feature either a BOSS fight or a Golden Saucer-like event.
Most zones prior to Endwalker have big boss FATEs that need a lot of players and lots of smaller FATE bosses. They aren't that exciting mostly, except the 2 special ones for each expansion that get progressively better each expansion.

I don't know about Gold Saucer events. It depends what you mean. FATEs are not necessarily designed for anything else so it heavily depends what you mean.

FATEs do give good exp. Not much point in gearing up if you're only doing FATEs. Plus there are literally NPCs in each zone that sell gear for that zone's level range...

They did used to have Leves do all this, by the way. Leves involved escort missions and all sorts of activities in the open world. And they dropped gear. But nobody took them seriously so they no longer exist except for crafters/gatherers.

I think the best way would be to expand the gemstones to ARR/HW/SB areas, maybe segregate them into different gemstones, and then expand the gemstone rewards so that it fits more comfortably into to the core gameplay loop... Which is one of the biggest issues that FATEs have. Once you have the rewards they're irrelevant, and the only next stage up is doing 3300 or so FATEs.

Maybe include gear, or a gear augment.. Like how you can use Sacks of Nuts from the hunt to get a Twine for 3000 sacks.

FATEs also need to give more exp.

Yes to all of this!!! Especially the gemstone part. Been wanting the gemstones to be added to older expansion zones since Shadowbringers release! T-T

I pretty much moved on from the new Dawntrail zones after about a month. Once I got the capybara and stopped doing hunt trains after my gear was melded, there was nothing else to do there. The only reason I ever visit them now is for my weekly custom delivery, to occasionally enter treasure dungeons or to unlock the new alliance raid. And even those things only encompass maybe 2-3 of the zones.

This game's open world is wide but very shallow, and the main reason is because they added flying in HW.
