WoW's player housing will have no FOMO and private housing wards

I am really looking forward to WoW housing as it seems like its going to be a better system than XIV or ESO. I never played WoW until DT dropped and boy oh boy has it been an amazing experience. The players, even the randos I get in dungeon finder, who have such a bad rep have been amazing, helpful and not even close to the monsters I expected fron all the stories you read online. SE really needs to step up after TWW and what it looks like is coming down the pipeline.

As someone who has been very loyal to SE, from FFXI through FFXIV, I never even imagined myself playing WoW at all, and now I am on the brink of cancelling my XIV sub and full timing it. Even my spouse said they wanted to take my temp and make sure I was ok when I was talking about it over dinner lol.

While it shouldn't be entirely held against SE as that's not really fair but also there is a breath of fresh air with how OFTEN you hear news about the game. Like due to PTR, fairly active dev notes, and even interaction / interviews (in English) you can get WoW news almost daily. Some of that is a bit reality of life, but it is wild to be like "I really hope FFXIV is cooking, are they cooking? no idea, can't tell.. man I really hope so" to checking WoW and being like "damn that's cool, oh look they pivoted based on feedback, that's cool too". I should note I have only recently started due to a growing unhappiness* with FFXIV, and I am aware recent past has a lot of drama... so like "new leaf blizzard" is the one I am commenting on and I hope they can keep that because it'll either mean a great game and or also potentially a better FFXIV (so a win, and a potential win).



*It's not 'death of FFXIV', just my feeling that things "feel" stagnant and many things I wish improved either don't or actually get worse (primarily the R in RPG).

I wish I could dive into WoW, but sadly, I find the art direction a bit of an eyesore. It’s not that it’s bad by any means, it’s just not something I personally find pleasing to look at.

I used to hate it too, but it really grew on me and now I love it.

To be honest it’s saddening how, after years of having nothing, GW2 and WoW now (and will) have housing systems that blow FFXIV’s out of the water. They really bring home just how stifling and botched FFXIV’s system is. I mean, Wildstar already did that, but unfortunately that wasn’t a game meant to last or keep attention…

I hope these developments eventually make them put more effort into finding a better solution for their current system.

Yeah, WoW is in a fairly decent state and keeps improving while XIV just feels like it's decaying over time. It's sad.

It would be nice if FFXIV developed a housing ward that works like the Apartments. Maybe you couldn't publically roam around and see everyone's yards or whatever, but at least they'd have something reliable and could stop subs without worrying about losing their home that was a PITA to get.

I wouldn't care if they kept the current houses as is - but there should be options for all to enjoy. That there are Warriors of Light who saved the star but can't buy a house is crazy to me.

Competition is always the best motivation for innovation.

Yoshi-P and his dev team should take that challenge seriously and push for SE to give them the funds to finally fix their janky ass housing system. And if they can, one up the WoW dev team by doing something with FFXIV's housing system that they haven't thought of trying yet.

WoW's RP community will absolutely love the private housing ward system. I imagine that RPers who are members of coalitions of RP guilds like the Horde Vanguard or the Grand Alliance will all live next to each other, and those wards will see more activity in them than public housing wards populated by normal players who might set up their house and then spend most of their playtime elsewhere. Hopefully WoW releases new decorations, new house styles, and new housing zones at a faster pace than FF14.

SE You can have this for free, if you knew what it was maybe FF would stop falling behind in basically everything now.

The Private/Public neighborhoods is what FFXIV should've done years ago.

Pretty cool stuff. They're definitely taking inspiration from Wildstar and pretty clearly attempting to make a housing system that beats FFXIVs in every aspect since SE has just let ours rot.
