Blizzard have shared another update on WoW player housing which details some of the interior decorations. Fairly standard XYZ placement options plus some advance options so you don't need to glitch to clip/float objects. You'll also be able to individually dye certain aspects of specific items with the example shown being dyeing the bed sheets without the rest of the item.

I sure wonder what game(s) they're referring to with this statement.

That said, Square Enix should really be reworking their systems so everyone can have a house. Likewise, we shouldn't lose it if we decide to take a break.

Private housing "wards" is a super cool idea, especially if it doesn't involve unsavoury tactics to actually get your guild (free company in XIV terms) and/or friends in the same "ward" together.

There's a few other details in the post including mentions that some housing items will be on the cash store plus the slow addition of new locations for neighbourhoods overtime. At first it'll just be two zones, one themed on the initial Human areas and the other on the Orc areas.

It otherwise reads like they're going to copy a lot of what FFXIV does for housing while also addressing some of the major sticking points that Square Enix are unlikely to address at this point. Although one would imagine the other major MMO indirectly calling out flawed game design is the catalyst to actually address the problem with tangible changes.

Well I already cancelled my sub and no joke this makes me want to hop back to WoW. My FC house in this game was my only ball and chain which has been making me super upset cause I can't put my sub down without losing my house. I already lost my personal all because I didn't have time to decorate it. I literally visited it everyday and idle in my yard but no. . . that wasn't good enough for SE. So F-U, SE, maybe I'll just do this instead.

Edit; As for my current FC house, I have a friend watching over it incase I decide to come back but if they lose it for whatever reason, I won't come back at all. I put a lot of work into that house and losing it will make me feel I have only half of what I worked for to come back to.

With the new, exclusive housing item in the cash shop that can be easily lost if one were to lose their house, it's appalling that instance and account-wide housing is not table for Square Enix.

Pretty obvious W for the taking for Blizzard to allow their players to use what FFXIV players have to use a 3rd party tool to do (access to XYZ positioning gimbals)

But not only did they give XYZ gimbals, but also allowing players to rotate the item around all three axes? Blizzard really is back to their peak form of 'take idea of other game, and massively improve on it' huh

I've been saying FFXIV should add those axis controls for years, housing feels so limited without them. The scaling feature is pretty wild as well. Hopefully WoW's progress on this front motivates FFXIV to do the same.

Now that is a good post from blizzard as it demonstrates mechanically how the housing will work with videos instead of the concept art and text of the prior. If that is how it will be in the hands of the players when implemented to live, that will be a good thing for the consumer.

One major downside I see is the furnishings will have collision and you won't be able to combine things like it's done in FFXIV. Still, having xyz axis is a major plus and hope we can get it in FFXIV too. Another major plus I see is they are able to move all the windows too, please allow us the same!

"Decor has collision with other pieces of decor as well as the floor, wall, and ceilings and players are unable to move decor through other things. No losing things in the walls!

Decor will align to the floor, wall, or ceiling depending on what sort of decor it is (e.g. a rug will align with the floor, while a painting will align with the wall). If you move it around a corner, it will continue to align properly. This also means decor will snap to the ground if you move it off something."

Housing items have no collision with each other with the advanced mode. (the preview shows a table clipping into a chair freely). They even offer examples of what the devs have done by using items in creative ways by combining them with others.

Ah I missed that part then, then Yoshi P has some catching up to do, they could legit lose many players to WoW over housing.

Also shots fired at FFXIV glitching xD

"You can enable gimbals (little 3d controls on objects) which will let you move objects on all three axis, including floating them up into the air without having to jump through hoops."

Being able to rotate on 3D axis and also resizing furnishings is amazing, we really need that ability here, there are so many furnishings that would allow some spectacular things if they could be rotated and floated without glitching and resized.
