Has posting in these forums ever changed anything ?

I haven't' been using the forums long but now that I do it seems to be a collection of things that SE might make a side note of in an address at very most (Yet usually if it's that big a thing then streamers and youtubers have made videos of it.

I'm genuinely curious because it feels like the only people even remotely related to SE that read the forums (Or care about the content) are moderators doing their job.

Before any white knights go "It's only people complaining", that usually is because people care about the game, otherwise they'd just dump it and leave, the just pure haters seem like a minority.

Has anything that one could tie back to the forums ever happened?

apparently the viper changes were because of the forum... not that i've seen many complains about that job at release.

after they announced the changes there were quite a few complains about it in the english forumsbut its hard to say if that had an influence.

other than that? not that im aware of... only read english and german forum though

Quite the opposite to that actually... the Viper changes were because of internal feedback within the developers. When Yoshi-P announced the Viper changes via Lodestone, the forums went out of their way to beg Yoshi-P not to change the class and praise its design and its gameplay, stating how much fun they are having.

The class was still changed and Yoshi-P admitted to seeing the feedback and praise for their work, but he chose to ignore it.

The only stuff I'd seen on the forums prior to the changes that were at all related to the changes we got were requests to make the opener status effect a buff (instead of debuff) if that could be rendered less redundant (e.g., by making it a crit buff), with explicit request not to increase its duration per application, threads asking not to make any changes until people got more used to the job and could therefore judge it more fairly, and... a ton of threads asking not to put through the changes mentioned in the patch notes.

The forums in genral or just the Community section?

Becuase I know the Gameplay>PVP section HEAVILY influence the changes CS3 makes to PVP.

They butchered Monk [my main] and somehow Astro was busted OP to the point where they forums said "cut its legs off".

So I dropped Monk and did Astro. I dont do caster or healer in PVE but I did it for PvP.

They have since Nerfed Astro after every small patch post 7.1 and gave Monk a tiny bit more

Right but in extensive FL threads in the PvP section over about 2 years before 7.1 dropped, there were a vast array of suggestions and complaints, none of which were addressed.

Like nobody said: wouldn't it be great if AST was totally busted, melee got so mired in crowd control it became horrible to play, oh and could you please completely change the hit detection algorithm so it feels much worse, tysm.

No, and in general there's very few pleasant people around here either, rendering the forums pointless for feedback, and just one example of how the community isn't as friendly and welcoming as it claims.
