characters disappearing

so back in about september, i had got some game time and decided to log back on. i went to my usual server (dynamis at the time) and saw that all of my characters were gone. i checked all of the other servers and data centers, but they werent there either. when i emailed support all they really said was to do a one time recov for the character that was deleted (the other two for some reason didnt exist in their systems) so since my friends werent even on that server i decided to just make a new character on behemoth where they were at.

fast forward to about a week ago now and i was in a dungeon when my game crashed. i resterted my console and when i logged back on it said something about my characters being unable to properly load and to try again later. needless to say, when i did that i got back on to see that my character had yet again disappeared without a trace, and the wierd thing about it is that even though one of my friends couldnt see it in game on his friends list (it was just a blank spot, but still occupied) another friend of mine could still see the character on his friends list in the companion app. yet again tried support and all they really asked was if i could send in a way on how to recreate the bug, which considering its happened on two different occasions i didnt even really know where to begin.

i suppose at this point im just curious to see if anyone else here possibly has run into a similar issue and could help with a fix, or at least a method to help prevent this happening again?

Do you have more than one account and might be logging onto the wrong one by mistake? You can have more than one service account attached to your FF14 account and swap between them if they're both active.

Do you use 2FA? If you don't then I would recommend setting that up and changing your password. Even if you haven't shared your account information, it could be possible it got phished and someone logged onto your account and deleted your character. Be wary of suspicious links you may see in game.

Sounds like someone has access to your account and is trolling you. Change the password lol.
