I have noticed a lot of that lately. Seems increasingly even saying 'hello' is wasted effort. Even had one group of sprouts acting like I was rude for saying hello to them.I wish it were disengenuous. It's not and I have no hope of feeling like I have something socially in common with the people people I play with. It's hard to put a finger on.
BUT THE VIBE HAS CHANGED. THAT VIBE IS EVERYWHERE AND IT'S ALL THERE IS.
Everyone is down to business.
Everyone is just passing through.
And I suspect it's savage that EVERYONE is just passing through to.
It's infected me to.
If I find myself in an MSQ roul instance because of mentor, and there isn't a single real sprout... then like F am I going to bother to even say hi. I'm not happy. I'm ea
way too pissed. And I won't apologise.
If my fellow non sprout MSQ players don't like the vibe, they will have to fix that themselves by coming to this forum to make their own complaint like I've now had to. They are welcome to make their own guess as to why it's so unfriendly but I'm handing SQX the answer on a plate here.
I run Mentor not to help as should be the case, but because it's the 1 roul left I dint find a guaranteed bore. At least I might occasionally get Satasha with 2 real sprouts that act like they are excited to be there. I'm not a sociopath narcissist high end player, and so it does have an effect on me. I have high empathy. I can tell from a thousand subtle clues in how someone plays, how they react how they move how they chat, and if all those queues and many more e missing, if the people I'm with are having honest fun. And are happy to be there with me.
I know the thousand things that SQX still haven't fixed that needlessly incentivise those instances.
It's the set piece of a sprouts entire first expansion and there is never even a death! Not even a death! Not EVER.
...oh I should add. Noone else said hi either. I'm nearly always the first person saying hello when hellos are said.
But saying hi doesn't optimise or speed run anything.
You mean like those those people who dismiss other people's (factually true) statements about the encounter design because they haven't cleared / do not have pink parses, those "parsewhores"? Yeah, I agree, people like this clown are the worst:
Look you've never done an Ultimate on patch and haven't gotten any pinks so I'm not really interested in explaining everything just for you.
Also lol if you just press dia and glare on whm, misery on cooldown you'll get an orange. For most jobs just doing your rotation correctly gives you an orange. You don't even have to care about uptime, just ABC alone is orange.
Also, you forgot to put your disclaimer so that people know to instantly dismiss all your points:
We wouldn't want anyone who reads your engagement baits to start believing completely false and stupid things like "the Nael phase is truly random", would we? No no no, that would be disingenuous!![]()
The vibe has definitely changed, and it really just boils down to the content being so innately unenjoyable and repetitive that people would rather get it over with as quickly as possible.I wish it were disengenuous. It's not and I have no hope of feeling like I have something socially in common with the people people I play with. It's hard to put a finger on.

We used to find optimization interesting for its own sake, but now, nah...
I'm genuinely not sure I can agree with this. At least for healing anyhow. It's definitely a heavy factor that SE seems to only balance for Ultimate and Savage and doesn't really pay attention to how things play anywhere else. It's another case where I don't think they really play their own game, at least not in the way or at the level most people do.
Ngl as someone who did it (I did do it late in the tier but still), it honestly didn't feel that bad. Even on release savage is rarely MINE. It's NE sure, but not MI. I struggled more on turrets and on actually forming the web wall for Harrowing Hell than Harrowing Hell itself.yes yes, all theory and none of the practice. Sure you could do that and yet they would still die especially mages. And mind you Dividing Wings 2 came right after Bonds 3 and PF could never do that shit clean... like ever.
As for Hector, he also had DPS right, and support left, so I am not sure what exactly you mean by light parties. Please link me to the raidplan/ video where he suggest Light parties or where this was done in such a manner.
In theory, you could do it since you have 1 DPS and 1 support picked, in reality, it would have been a shit show with people having to adjust based on prio. (snek memes prio much? and P8s trauma dumping that PF could also never get right?)
No offense but you are talking out of your ass now. Perhaps you did P10 normal but it was nothing like that the savage counterpart. P10s was a strong healer check. If you are up for the challenge and you think your comically large bubble would have covered all you needed, please consider doing Min Ilvl no Echo prog in P10S and get back to me after.
Also based on how you post and how pro you are, it should be a piece of cake no?
Harrowing Hell is an anomaly in modern XIV design. We used to have soft enrages a bit similar to it at the end of certain savage fights in the past, long ago, but not anymore.
I wish we could have more Harrowing Hell, it feels actually epic and threatening.
The AST example singlehandedly killed my interest in healing. Sigh.Pretty sure the devs have said this quite openly, but good luck finding these exact snippets; everything gets said in offhanded interview comments or gets buried in 8 hour live letters. I distinctly remember the balance team mentioning that the two minute standardization fetish was born out of a desire to make high-end raiding encounters easier for the team to design. They also take player feedback into account. For example, AST used to have lots of different cards that you drew randomly, and a whole system for building an optimal party buff with some chance mixed in, but a lot of people who treat this game like a spreadsheet didn't like that and complained, so now AST is a boring shitjob where you draw the same cards over and over again.
HW/SB AST was more fun for people who actually enjoyed optimization and not grind their way to a 99 by crit farming.
Because of the random nature of cards you had to make a lot of snap decisions. Expanded Balance wasn't the only right choice and it had pretty hidden depth. Using an Extended Arrow on a monk (in a coordinated group that goads) outside of burst windows can sometimes be a smart choice and is mathematically superior depending on the situation.
Optimization? That sounds like:
At the end of the day
So why do you care what the game is like or what is was like? Pure nostalgia, no better game to play? Lack of affection and love?
This community is a lost cause when it comes to rng.HW/SB AST was more fun for people who actually enjoyed optimization and not grind their way to a 99 by crit farming.

Rng has been systematically reduced or butchered all over the place over expansions because people constantly bitch about it. The only reason BRD and DNC still have it is because people consider those as the quarantine zone where all those rng lunatics can be shoved in so they leave everybody else alone.
It goes hand in hand with the fully scripted encounters we've had since the dawn of times.
For Dawntrail apparently "it was a hard debated decision to make considering there is a lot of people that like rng, but we decided to remove it from AST anyway".
For MCH, they never gave any explanation. Just got served with the new nothing burger.
