They need to come up with a new well written villain instead of keep resurrecting and bringing back and relying on emet and zenos to be a constant rival to our character. But I also don't trust the dawntrail writing team to make a decent villain.

That is when the true Vana'diel of legend will be reborn.
that would be funny haha but honestly I would love to see one of the twin become our rivals because I will say this sphene isn't rival material >~>
Resurrecting Zenos was the worst decision they ever made.
It compounded on the fact that they skipped the Garlemald expansion and didnt give Zenos any plot relevance aside from being a convenient jump the shark at the end of the universe which made 0 sense and a wet rag that just stalked us in the backround.
It was atrocious writing.
Since Endwalker there's been a lack of antagonists, problems and danger in general. Having the Garlean Empire existing in the background as a vast antagonistic force did wonders for XIV's now-utopian world.
Well there still is a lot of Ilsabard unexplored, so who knows what the rest of the Garlean colonies are up to. Generally though, I agree - everything now feels way too peachy, there is no real conflict driving the world any longer which could cause friction. Endwalker and Dawntrail have resolved a lot of the unknowns rather quickly.
RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.
The Pan European Game Information [PEGI] rating is 16:
PEGI 16
This rating is applied once the depiction of violence (or sexual activity) reaches a stage that looks the same as would be expected in real life. The use of bad language in games with a PEGI 16 rating can be more extreme, while the use of tobacco, alcohol or illegal drugs can also be present.
Cero:
Rating C (ages 15 and up) equivalent to ESRB's T (high end) rating, PEGI's 16 (low end) rating, USK's 16 rating, and OFLC's M (high end) rating.
Anyone who thinks the game is designed for 13-year-old players lives in a land of fantasy where the ESRB "Teen" rating is reasonable because "it sells more games." Which it does, if you go read about Japanese companies weighing whether it's good for business to get a Cero rating at all because it limits sales.
The ESRB has no equivalent to the "R" movie rating. It's either "OK for 13-year-olds" or "For mature audiences only".
The writers put themselves in a box with WoL's insane power scaling. In EW he had planets thrown at him and casually tanked that shit. Then in DT they were tasked with writing a lower stakes story but outside of the spaghetti western part we still got a lot of violent conflicts where our character's inaction bordered on malicious at times. Through it all, the pertinent question of "why can't I just break this clearly evil dude's neck?" was in the back of my mind. I'm sure the village that was burned to the ground by Bakool's actions is real happy that I just let him live long enough to do that so Wuk could have the opportunity to fight him later. Like, come on man. This is dumb as hell. It's like the writers know WoL is a walking nuke, but a walking nuke snapping its fingers and solving every problem isn't very interesting, so now they have to come up with stupid reasons for us to be there but also not act. It sucks.
Going forward, they'll probably do some kind of power reset. Either we'll isekai to another shard where everyone's about as strong as we are, or we'll isekai and get "reset" somehow. Or the writers will just keep doing what they're doing now and give us low-stakes adventures where we could easily save the day but we choose instead to just stand there and watch people die. The only interesting thing that could come out of WoL's dawntrail apathy would be if WoL had a Doctor Manhattan moment and simply became numb to the lesser problems of day to day life, culminating in a dark WoL arc where we create chaos to sate our own boredom and finally agree with Zenos. But these writers are terrified of risks. Tension? Surprises? What are those? You'll get your dungeon every two levels. Eight people have arrived; it's time to fight a boss.

I'm all for a power reset. Take the wols blessing of light away pr have some aether based crisis. But power resetting is a fantastic way of downscaling op mains. Kingdom hearts resorts sora in most games bar khiii where he has the power he needs. Being in unreality they'll likley power sink him in kh4 too. And if we were de-godified. It would actually give room for enemies and rivals to grow. Cause rn we just slap everything
See that's the thing. They were rivals for the main character--we just weren't the main character. Wuk Lamat was. I'm not even trying to be salty here, no amount of salt or lack thereof would change the facts. Look at Sphene as well: she's very obviously Wuk Lamat's ideological foil. CE3 was experimenting with their narrative, executed very poorly, and this was the result.
but the WoL never was that powerful when they took the planet the tank have to use a lb3 otherwise it is a wipe then it's hope from others. the warrior of light never was that powerful to begin with we are stronger yes but remember Zenos kicked our ass more then once and then we kill him in Endwalker. People often forget that LB is the party determination and that the game acknowledge the others player to so we are not that powerful xx)
