    About the Chocobo Companion

    Can this blasted thing get a upgrade or something already? I would very much like for my oversized chicken to have more than one hyper active functioning braincell desperately trying to perform the bare minimum of Tanking, Healing and DPSing without taking around several seconds to perform each of it super duper special attacks/abilities.

    Also, where is my Chocobo companions Choco Meteor, Yoshi-P!? The most iconic Chocobo themed spell in the game and our own freaking companion Chocobo can't even perform it at max level?! Come on dev team! I know you can make some time at some point to make the Chocobo companion a more worthwhile addition to the game (especially since it's been neglected for 10+ years)!

    Yes, and that only means it would be easy to implement it as a spell for our Chocobo, as the VFX and everything for it already exists.

    No, really, it's not like the spell belongs to BLU, BLU's entire thing is that it replicates spells from other sources, why does it matter the player has access to it?

    It's a shame it's been abandoned. I still like using my chocobo when going around the world.

    We could also get more interesting passive abilities like increased mount speed or increased seals/exp/gemstones from fates when our chocobos are out.

    It's like the GC squadrons. Really fun content that just stops, while additionally leaving the savior of the universe as a lowly Captain.

    I don't know if it was abandoned, rather just SE doesn't know what to do with it or considers it "feature complete". Hopefully they'll implement some of your ideas in the future!

    There's no excuse for that! If Captain was the last rank, then sure, but they have a few more ranks there on display and no way to obtain them. A friend of mine asked how can they rank up after captain and I had to tell them you can't because it wasn't finished.

    I would love an update... Choco meteor as a duo-limit break could be cool. Add the butt pound fat choco and Choco mog Knight rush too . Especially would love to see the update relate to chocobo paradise / hot and cold game.

    Can't remember which thread I stuffed them all into at the second but I remember wanting to see:

    Squadrons / Retainers: become FF Tactics (roster), Dark Cloud (MINOR inspiration on the town impact side), Shadow Of War (roster) / Dynasty Warrior (attacking stronghold) type content with a focus on that conquest / war table mapping (some mission based, but more going out and 'doing').
    Trusts / Companion: Expand and combine with different progression mechanics, with some being long burn and or mini-game related (like Chocobo)


    Where in Squadrons you'd have things like an upgrading Garrison (not a house, but comes with some features), and primarily you are playing a recruiter and conquest game. Things might be Chocobo caravans and hamlet defenses, reclaiming and making an impact on certain environments (like unlocking an NPC shop for something), revisiting old dungeons with new layouts that you take your team on for things like acquiring a new forge (say one of those lava dungeons) or resource (purified water from the depths of "..."), with roster mechanics of a sort of a tactics / star ocean-y like vibe meets Shadow Of Mordor (lord of the rings game with that nemesis system). I mention Tactics, because I think that would be a great place to add weird job growth systems that you 'craft' / 'research' jobs for your squad (Shadow of Mordor and Star Ocean also mentioned for roster based concepts). I mention Dynasty Warrior because you could be attacking strongholds, where that vibe could fit well (mowing down enemies as you try to strategize resources on an assault). All of that being used to up your rank in the GC and gain many different theme'd unlocks, as you progress into new expansions instead of your GC exclusively your crew could become more freelance allowing you to do such for Ishgard (and so on, which can help as you hit a wall with your GC theme). As I always dreamed of airships, I'd toss this crew into that system too.

    So for example a Hamlet might be is disrepair, so you go and clear it out as a mission, then you acquire local resource channels and set up a chocobo caravan (which could be multiple missions), then you send out construction projects which rebuilds it, which leads to MINOR dark cloud like system as you place the infrastructure (which has impacts on your squadron / garrison stats), this leads Hamlet defenses, and moving through other areas as you move on like the nearby Dragon is threatening your hamlet, etc. Much of this having an actual visual representation to your game when you go there, the hamlet being taken back, repaired, the selections you made being present (and potentially functioning depending on what that was, like a shop, an inn, might place a sauna that grants a nice HP buff, etc).


    Where in Trusts / Companions would sometimes have unique progression systems, like Chocobo is using more mini-games, slow-burn, and Chocobo Paradise beast tribe content, with a more 'natural' progression vibe (feed, train, be together), with a very low barrier to summoning, another might be a mammet that you rip and tear (and progresses through simply acquiring/crafts), and then you have more important characters with their own Bioware / cRPG / Larian type growth that is some part exp but also some part quest and interactions. Some characters, in certain parts of the MSQ, might become shades or aspects (because they're uh.. gone.. lol) but they'd generally 'scale' so if you never wanted to change you mostly didn't have to.

    While the Squadron is used for lower level leveling, resource gathering, being sent off on missions, and natural glamour stuff, the Trusts are used for more MSQ prog and oh 'crap' moments that need higher power forces (currently its actually the opposite, imo, my Squadron feels stronger than trust members lol). The Squadron might not have restrictions on being summoned / utilized, but Raubahn might only have a few summons a day in him because he does have other things to do (but feels dope to summon when you do, perhaps until you reach certain ranks where you can summon their aspect). I would example the Delve companion in WoW for these I suppose.

    They could take a look at the +accuracy trait as well, still weird that trait hasn't been touched in the years since they removed that stat.

    I want a ranged dps mode for my Chocobo. A Black Mage Chocobo would be nice. Redistribute the barding from the achievment currency to reaching level 10 in the new skill tree.

    Choco Meteor would be awesome! So would Choco Esuna… lol Also wouldn’t mind more companions… there was a missed opportunity to give us dragon companions. (Iykyk) Everyone could’ve have their own baby dragon to raise!

    But in general, I would like to see some of these abandoned systems get refreshed, like others have mentioned… the GC ranks (and squadron improvements if they’re going to keep the higher ranks tied to them, although I’d really prefer to leave the squadron behind and do something else for higher ranks), improve chocobo dyeing so you just feed them the formula of fruits all at once and actually get the intended result the first time, more stable designs (and sizes, like a single stall model, or a tiny one for Lala chocos), the ability to feed onions through the stable (and thus allow FC members to do it for other members), etc.
