What is the reason you're still subbed?

I'm replaying the game on a new character, but that isn't why Im still subbed. I guess the real answer would be that my trust is shaken but I still am holding out hope that they will fix the mess they created with Dawntrail's story and it will improve. There are tendrils of hope in that regard, so I'm hoping it can be salvaged. Sadly if 7.2 doesnt fix some of these gripes, I will, for the first time since ARR's launch, unsub until such time as I learn its fixed.

I like the FF jobs (as in the series), I think the visuals (meaning graphics and locations) are great, and I love the music. I mostly also quite enjoy the story, but SE should be careful with that one because it's easy to mess up. I think graphics and music are easier to just go "yeah that's good" vs the story where you got wrapped up in your own smell and find out later everyone else thinks it stinks.

I can definitely say I have had a growing apathy that I can partly attribute to age with the game, but I feel I can strongly attribute to the void of quality roleplay and in fact loss of it as the game gets older (it doesn't improve... somehow it gets worse!). It got bad enough I tried WoW again (in a non-demo format), first time in a decade. My god the things I've been saying I feel are missing, are absolutely missing from this game (because those are the things WoW tends to do much better). Also sucks because a lot of the stuff I feel I've suggested here I'm seeing actively done over there now and I feel like "yep.. that was fun, too bad 10 years ago FFXIV didn't beat you to it".

So I do have a mounting negative feeling, and I feel semi-confident it is not exclusively due to too much familiarity but I am cautious that some of it might be.

I still 'want' to want to play this game, but when one game is doing it better and the other looks like it has its finger up its nose and thinking about eating the booger (hyperbole sure but it's the "feeling" of what is going on). ... It honestly makes you a little sad, when you've been with it so much too. So probably also with the game as a component of sunk cost lol.

What was or will be your snapping point. What needs to happen for you? Have you cut your sub money back? What steps are you taking? What is your motivation.

For me personally it's all on the next patch and if any of the following happens in succession I'm gone

* cosmic doesn't drop on patch
* savages are unnecessary difficult or unbalanced
* msq is a disaster like 7.1
* trial is boaring and not fun to farm
* shades triangle and is a slog fest with no interesting story and just a mindless painful grind like eureka
* no statement is made regarding dissatisfaction with content release schedule

I'm only subbed so I don't lose my house. It's been that way for a while. Things got better after DT but that wore off a few months ago.

I stay up cause I have friends that still play when they can and cause. I prefer not to lose my house along with getting Holiday emotes clothes furniture etc. Other than that I log in when I need to you could say or I just feel like doing something online.

When having played basically daily for so many years it would feel weird as hell to not be able to login, it used to be "I'd lose my house, what about my friends", but no point having a house in current game state and friends are all discord + other games right now. I had the same thing when I quit eve online, took like a year and a trigger event.
