    Moving to new hard drive...

Hi, I am upgrading my hard drive soon, how do I move my game? I have an external hard drive to use for moving files, just need to know what files/folder to move.

    Thanks

Just copy&paste the whole Square Enix directory. If you're not sure where it is located, right-click the desktop icon and "open file location". Go "up" one level and ctrl+x.
I just noticed that I still have the install "zip" files. If you still have them as well, copy those to your new hdd and reinstall. Drag&Drop 'may work flawless' but without the registry entries and other 'what-not' happens when the game was installed may break the app when trying it from your new hdd.

Thanks for the help, hopefully it works. I just don't want to lose my saved game.

Hi, it works fine to just copy paste. Don't worry.

I did it last month, no problems.

I upgraded my hard drive to a Caviar Black just last month. All I did was use XXClone (freeware) to copy an image of my entire hard drive, and it cloned it right into my new hard drive. Every single setting was brought over for all my applications, and I didn't have to update/reinstall a thing. It isn't too complicated, only problem I came across was forgetting to create a boot CD for booting up Windows 7 for the first time on the new hard drive... but quickly fixed that by using my Windows disc to boot and repair the missing files in order to make the new hard drive official.

Like it has been suggested, copying the files is enough. If you want to be sure everything works, you can also first do a clean install of FFXIV, then overwrite the files with the copies, to apply updates.

What most people have forgotten to mention here, is that you should also copy the files from your profile, the settings and macros are saved only in there. The default path to the folder is C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV (or close to that, I'm not on my own pc currently so can't confirm) and you should copy all of that too. The macros and settings are not saved to server so this is the way to copy them between installations.
