No it really won't.I really don't understand what the big deal is for wanting to see gameplay so bad that it's ruining everybody's week. We've just seen a boatload of very telling screenshots that will tell us so much more than some 3 minute video of some quest being completed. The majority of impact that live gamplay will give us current players is how responsive the interface and battle system is as compared to 1.0. You cannot gauge that responsiveness from a game you are watching and not playing. Therefore, wait until you can get a hand's on, and you will get a much better experience than watching some youtube video.

But that's what mostly everyone is interested in along with any new battle mechanics.I really don't understand what the big deal is for wanting to see gameplay so bad that it's ruining everybody's week. I do hope the Rep post was specifically about the live presentation, but some kind of disclaimer like "...but we'll still have some gameplay videos for you" would've been a good idea if they actually have plans for that; just saying "nope" and leaving hopeful assumptions otherwise...isn't wise.
I'd usually be on the defensive side (not that I'm angry or upset by any of this), but there isn't much summer left for the summer full of information etc., so I think people getting upset is kind of justified. Considering what the game's been through (development, reception, and player base-wise), I don't think it's a good idea to make promises that you can't properly keep/are easily misconstrued, at the risk of making staff-player relations worse.
If more time is needed, for goodness sake, take it; it doesn't matter if you liked the old team or the new team, old system or new system, everyone can agree that FFXIV 1.0 came out before it was ready.

I completely agree. I don't mind them taking longer, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when it's not properly explained. Take as much time as you need, I wouldn't mind you taking another 2 years to complete it to a satisfactory level, but for the love of god COMMUNICATE.I do hope the Rep post was specifically about the live presentation, but some kind of disclaimer like "...but we'll still have some gameplay videos for you" would've been a good idea if they actually have plans for that; just saying "nope" and leaving hopeful assumptions otherwise...isn't wise.

It was FFXI's weakest spot, and it's a big weak spot for XIV too.

For me, I want to see the responsiveness of the UI, responsiveness of chat , and interaction with NPC, selling items, putting things on retainer, putting skill on my skill bar, deleting item, stacking item / destacking items, crafting.
The responsiveness and the lack of lag is what I'm expecting. Battle system and combat is not really that game breaking for me, I can manage. But server lag, responsiveness is a huge deal, because all other MMOs I've played before do not have this lag problem.
Like for example, in WoW, you can sell 60 items at npc in less than 30 seconds, click boom click boom click boom, sold.

This is by far the worst Decision you could have possibly made. How do you expect to build excitement if you wont let anyone see the game? And for those of you who are wondering about Yoshi-P’s scheduled presentation and real-time demonstration, unfortunately we do not have any plans at the moment to release videos or to do a live broadcast. We will however be releasing information through various media interviews, so be sure to watch out for them.
