There is no reason to lock anything. Let people costumize their characters however they want.
And purely based on math, you get more unique combinations when more options are available. There is really no need to argue about it, it's just facts lol.

I'd kill to have the female highlander animations on my character.
Unlocking the racial/gender animations and making them a simple part of the options or character creation would be great. If they're not going to add new races, increasing the customization of existing ones is the only place they can go, really.
I think it would be cool if they made a menu that let you assign different versions the race/gender emotes.
Things like running, sitting, stances, etc., so you can mix and match them to customize your character more. ( •̀ᴗ•́ )و ̑̑

The princess run on a Lala would be adorable! But I would like a more “normal” walk for them.Male Au'ra without the Crash Bandicoot running animation would be a huge improvement for them. Same if Lalafell had the option to not waddle. xD
But in all seriousness. I'd love to have the Midlander princess run for some of my female alts. Especially my female Highlander.
I understand giving each of the races unique animations… maybe we just need more variety added to each of the races. They recently added all those new sit poses… and I wouldn’t mind getting a third “weapon out” pose for each of the jobs, as well as the crafters and gatherers to have ones made specifically for them and not just a copy/paste of PLD for some reason!

Keep in mind there's a world of difference between "let people swap to another race's animations/emotes" and "give every race/Job new, entirely unique animations", I imagine (part of?) the appeal of the former would be exactly that they wouldn't have to animate anything from scratch (aside from adding tail movement to tailless' races' animations, I guess)
Glamour without restrictions* is long overdue!
If you think so too, help keep the thread going!

As a female midlander, I 100% agree.
Though it's been 10 years with no updates to the very limited character customization besides a few hairstyles - I guess that's what mods are for, since the developers won't do it. (though I don't use them, of course)

I would be all for this. Those midlander female anime-tions are a bit cringy and infantilizing, even in anime. Of course I would love to see more creativity coming out of Japan as a whole. It's like they settled on one style and outside of a few minor things they just repeat that same thing ad nauseam. What makes it even worse is that it has in turn become the default for a lot of aspiring and professional creatives who don't want or care to expand their horizons, making animation and fan art in general particularly dull the past decade or so. /endtangent
