Why I thought you were claiming to be a programmer: Because you made references to reading/writing code and interpreting languages. I'm not sure if English is your first language, but you could stand to organize yourself. It gets in the way of the point that you are trying to make.
Though your writing might be understandable to you, you should double check it to make sure that you're not jumping around. Your very... devious... writing style seems to be the source of a lot of the confused responses that your initial post elicited.
Well, I don't see how your other questions relate to what I said, I guess you were trying to appeal to me in some manner for some point that you're trying to make that I don't see... but I'll indulge your questions for the hell of it, just because I'm not sure if you were attempting to use rhetoric or if you were seriously curious, and not satiating curiosity within a reasonable limit is rude.
Am I returning ffxi fan who desires to experience the fun again: I never played 11 or any MMO, really, before this one.
I really don't understand the whole "ffxi was this, so ffxiv must be like xi" expectations. I'm sure many of my opinions are not viewed favorably by the returning ffxi players, but the way I see it is: though the game is an FF title, it shouldn't be a clone. I am sure there are very nice features that make xi stand out, and they should be given a nod at least. However, recycling content and core gameplay elements is a stupid move, and ruins the ability of ffxiv to stand as its own title. I think a lot of people remember ffxi in a very pleasant light, and while that's great, this game is a Final Fantasy title. It's not ffxi-2.
Why do I pay, or why do I play? I pay to play, and I played for my amusement. I like gear, I like winning, but I also enjoy playing with fun people. I'm just a bored individual who got sucked into what seems to be the wrong game at the wrong time with the wrong people.
Now, To address your original post. I'm going to write it out the way that I'm understanding it so that you know where I am coming from as far as my response goes. I've never been good with words.
Sun Bastok Once Said: "So. I was exploring the UI and was wondering if I could use cross-class abilities -- without using a job crystal. I tested this out as a Gladiator and managed to do a quest (leve?) that was 5 levels higher than my own. This is a great feature, though it's a little tedious to do... it will help you out as a solo player. I think that you can also take advantage of this feature if you are in a party."
"You can do this on any quest (leve?). You need to level your character up to unlock the other jobs (or equip a new weapon). Once you've unlocked those jobs, you can pick the second job you want to level up. As for the second job... level it up from level 1 using level 5 leves. Get it to level 10. To pull this off, you're gonna need some decent gear."
Ok. Here's where what you're saying is getting really confusing. That might just be the wine talking though,.
"You can just run on through these leves without resting, unless there is a significant level difference (~5-8) between you and the enemies that you are engaging. SE says that if you change class, then you lose EXP bonus on the leve. It doesn't do anything, and I am getting decent EXP. Cast some defense spells and blah blah blah."
If I am understanding you correctly, you're basically saying that you're using cross-class abilities and have it mistaken for a bug/exploit. I think you're a little confused because you're probably a new player and not used to the armoury system.
First and foremost, there are differences between classes and jobs.
Classes don't have job stones equipped.
Classes: Archer, Pugilist, Lancer, Gladiator, Marauder, Conjurer, Thaumaturge
Classes are able to equip and use any abilities that they want from other classes, as long as the ability is able to be equipped.
For example: An Archer can equip Archer skills, plus skills from any other class that allows it. The pool contains all other classes.
So... if I were to go ARC, I could equip Keen Flurry (Lancer), Sentinel (Gladiator), Taunt (Pugilist), Cure (Conjurer), and Raise (Conjurer), and cast them as my timers allow it. However, I could not equip something like Curaga, since that is only usable by Conjurer and White Mage.
Classes do not have sub-classes.
Jobs: ARC-> Bard, PGL-> Monk, LNC-> Dragoon, GLA-> Paladin, MRD-> Warrior, CON-> White Mage, THM-> Black Mage
Jobs do have job stones equipped.
Equipping a job has a bit of a tradeoff. You reduce the amount of classes you can pick from for some new abilities and stat changes. Jobs are less jack-of-all trades, and more role specific.
So, if I were on my Archer and equipped my job stone so that I could be a Bard, my skill pool is reduced. Bard's sub-classes are Conjurer and Thaumaturge, so I would not be able to use Keen Flurry or Taunt, since those are not Con/Thm skills. (I still can't cast Curaga, though :P)
You seem to think that classes are jobs, when they're not. A gladiator is a class. Paladin is a job. Gladiator can prance around, casting fire all damn day long. PLD can't do that.
If you switch jobs with buffs on, then you won't lose the buffs you have on.
If you use an ability from another class... like using cure as a gladiator, then you're still a gladiator.
This really isn't new. This isn't an exploit, you just don't understand how the armoury system works, and that's fine... but don't go on the official forums claiming that you found a hack/exploit. That's a great way to get banned.
P.S. YEAH! SUMMONS!

whats with the Summoner? lol thats funny okay hm your name was devious now its something else.
I do know how to write proper English, but dont care to at the time. I would rather have you figure out my puzzle and solve for yourself. I get no thrill with proper English. However, I can write what I want when I want. Ban me why I pay money, if SQuare-Enix wants to ban me for their mistake in programming. Why is it my mistake I found the error? Do you want to make this a legal case? Be my guest you wont win.
Garuda, granda, grande, Senorita, Porque, la Miquote character, es Hyperion O, pero me no megusta la Gridania. Si or no esta in La Grid. No bueno porfavor, pero mi favorito character en la juego de FFXi. Siempre Arknemesis, y Gawneve, mucho grande es story, favorito. Si Gracias, estabien.
I write much like a diary. I like to because its how I think, I realize that I cannot make or try to comprehend your thinking or level. Why would I? I would not be me. If you use other powers of the other classes to me that is a sub-job as it grows with time. This is what FFxi, had to offer. I dont know what this armory has to do with what used to be a list of spells and defense traits. Armory is equipment, lol you dont put on spells or skills, lol what everybody seems to miss is the Mail system.
You dont know what it is not to be able to talk to your characters or send any special items to your friends. Its hard not having a mail system. why doesn't somebody send a rose or a gift to anyone. They cant and half the time its hard to find someone you like. YOu must search for them. So well you cant get married like FFXi, had to offer and many of us like the fact of the matter. That one day we would have a great wedding and have what we want. You had to make money and well it was not easy. Much like it is today. The AH, of FFXi was a beatifull thing and why players would not want that back is beyond me. The World of FFXi was round and could stand on its own. Why is there so many Expansions, think about that? This one is promising and will expand but if you could say this is not like FFXi and well thats funny the character is the same. The World still has three cities, that are important. There are still boats and ferries and Airships to ride. Hmm Chocobos to attain and raise, soon I hear in the 2.0 update.
Am I saying something wrong? No im not mad, im glad that you were able to figure out my puzzle. I wanted to be around the brains of the bunch. How can I reach some if I do not amuse you with something. However, Bastok_Iamtheone Sub-job method is still here and works. YOu cannot get the right amount of xp if you dont. For those that didnt think of it first. Why should I be the one lol to understand your ways. I dont know your ways and I will invent my own and have greater results. Why should I be the one to blame when my character is doing what I wanted in FFxi-The first one, all along. I wanted a powerful Warrior/Mage, I could not attain this in FFxi, however it was easy in this one. where is the challenge? Levequest are to be hard jobs, not ones that give you the most xp and money.
Bastok
If you think this is "Reality" your much mistaken. Sometimes Fantasy is the Only Option.
Go on.....
I think... wow.
wow.
I'm at a loss of words.
Well. I think that, cognitively, you are the new Nahaara... or you might have just topped him.
Welcome to the server.
Uh... good luck.
VALEFORRRRRRRR!
Some men just want to watch the world burn. One of those men is named Dakin Reyes.

I'm going to change my name to Windurst Iamtheone and challenge you to pvp. I'll even let you switch to Conjurer to "hack" Stoneskin and Protect on yourself and switch back (much to my astonishment).
Check out my Lore posts:An Eorzean Timeline: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/64377-An-Eorzean-Timeline-Reborn
If you can't give the effort to write well so people to understand it, then why should anyone give the effort to try and read it? There are lots of people with better ideas and strategies on these forums who do take the time to write well, what makes you so special?
From what i think i understand... THis is just an regular ingame mechanic that you're using... Its not special... though clearly you are...
