Can we get an official FFXIV account on Bluesky

I don't know if it's true that Bluesky users also use Twitter. I know it's not true for me.

I'm also not sure why anyone would be angry if FFXIV joined Bluesky. They are already on multiple social media networks.

Even if what you say is true and it's lose/lose wouldn't it make sense then to join Bluesky because they would potentially be reaching more people?

Also the people doing social media are not the ones fixing the game, so I don't think that's a concern.

Most of the people I know either use both platforms or just stick to X. My main concern is that all this talk about adding platforms is going to take up time in discussions and meetings, time that could be spent focusing on actual, relevant issues for the game. To me, it feels like a waste of time.

As for the “angry” part, you really have to read through this whole thread to get it. Regardless of the reasons people might have, it seems like someone is always going to misunderstand and get upset. (both sides)

And when it comes to the lose-lose scenario, you can’t just think from an individual perspective, you have to consider the company’s view. Will adding platforms bring in money? No? Then why would they care about it? From the company’s standpoint, it’s probably a simple equation: if it doesn’t generate revenue, why bother? Of course, if I’m wrong, feel free to prove me wrong.

Also, I still don’t understand the bigger idea behind this push. From where I’m sitting, it looks like a smaller group wants to have something the larger group already has, even though they aren’t prohibited from using the same tools or platforms to get it. Maybe I’m just too old for this whole social media war, but that’s how it seems to me.

As FFXIV expanded its SM presence from whatever platform it initially used to the suite it now employs, do you suppose endless meetings were required? Time sucked away from giving us actual content? I guess it's conceivable. Might explain the brevity of the latest Hildi quest.

bluesky is just a political statement against twitter. and while im happy it exists, its not worth a company to completely overhaul their community team for.

Copying and pasting tweets to one other social media website is not an "overhaul" for their team.

They're all terrible, bluesky included. I have deleted my personal twitter account 3 days ago (professional account deleted two years ago along all those of our companies) as the place is a total cesspool filled with fake news and disgusting American politics where racism, misogyny, homophobia, bigotry of all kinds is not just excused but normalized. Never got IG and deleted FB a very long while ago. Tried bluesky in November and it was filled with trolls and inane content. That account got deleted too.

X is an international site that sees heavy use in Japan, and this "delete X" movement is an American phenomenon. The founder's antics were very well known when he acquired it so seeing this latest news as a bridge too far is amusing.

....... This thread is not arguing to delete FF14's twitter account. It's literally just about having an additional account on Bluesky where they copy and paste their scheduled posts. This outrage about an additional account is so fake and histrionic. And y'all talk about Bluesky users being too sensitive when a lot of people in here feel triggered and engage in all kinds of misleading discussions with bad-faith or explicitly wrong talking points ("delete X") when somebody asks for an option that doesn't take anything away from you. If you don't use Bluesky you won't lose anything because they are still on twitter. And if you are not on twitter, for which there are many reasons, and if it's just having your peace of mind without being stalked by bots, then you can get your FF14 news on your Bluesky feed. Neat. Everybody wins.
I promise you, copy-pasting your posts to Bluesky takes 5 minutes at best. I do that with all my art which I cross-post on both platforms, and lo and behold, it's pretty much no effort.

The owner of the website was involved in the formation of a currently existing governmental department, openly supported the current US president during the last election, and was physically present in the inauguration, including his own speech and a... questionable arm gesture, if anyone is "draggin politics" into this, it's him, we are just forced to deal with the consequences, and trust me when I say I wish I didn't have to.
