I'm just here to comment on the irony of a bunch of dudes playing girl characters defending the billionaire who hates when people present as a gender different than their assigned one lol

Not sure if this is sarcasm or not. As we always had political games. Like with the Metal Gear series or Call of Duty series or Splinter Cell series among so many others. Like GTA 4 (2008) as an example which follows the story of an illegal immigrant from russia who arrives in liberty city aka new york.
Jesus christ, I think just saying "put this in your RSS header" would've been sufficient enough.I didn't even know FFXIV had a twitter account. Why would you even follow it? There's no news there that isn't on the lodestone.

Put this in your RSS reader. You DO have an RSS reader right? You aren't one of those technically illiterate people who actually let social media algorithms dictate which of your subscriptions you actually see, right? I mean when I was like, 12, i was one of those guys who actually opened a browser page or app for every site to check for updates, but we all gotta grow up some time.
Have you ever tried asking these "dudes" the gender of their characters? If they define them as girls, there is no irony. I understand your point, but it's not really the best way to make it. FFXIV is a videogame. Playing with a female character does not equal to "I'm a female irl".
I suppose I should elaborate because I wasn't commenting on the game narrative itself being political, rather commenting on people unable to separate their political stance from following a game they enjoy on a social media platform that they can simply ignore the politics from be it Twitter or Skyblue. Not sure if this is sarcasm or not. One of the reasons that speaks for bluesky and makes it in my eyes a better platform than twitter. I can create my own bubble of stuff I want to see and like. Rather than being shoved politics down my throat especially far right biased ones. "Don't show me that again" doesn't work because the Reichest man of the world needs to feed you his agenda.
On Bsky I haven't encountered politics at all.
Understandable.I suppose I should elaborate because I wasn't commenting on the game narrative itself being political, rather commenting on people unable to separate their political stance from following a game they enjoy on a social media platform that they can simply ignore the politics from be it Twitter or Skyblue.
No, its not. A niche platform for Old Tumblr heads and 2020 Twitter will NEVER break into competitive market share and/or user share. The FFXIV Reddit is all you get and deserve.
You've missed the point: The ideology these people are defending espouses that the very concept that expressing yourself, even in a video game, in a way not befitting of an extremely narrow traditional viewpoint is "Woke". (See: the backlash towards literally any game with a female protagonist if she isn't a sexy busty lady or if a male character isn't manly enough by some nebulous metric)Have you ever tried asking these "dudes" the gender of their characters? If they define them as girls, there is no irony. I understand your point, but it's not really the best way to make it. FFXIV is a videogame. So grown men who are essentially playing with digital Barbie dolls (glamour is the end game after all) are within the scope of what that ideology would consider "weird". We're just here in our JRPG/MMO "echo chamber" where it's totally normal, but wander outside and people are less understanding of the concept. You can google and find plenty of articles, forum posts, surveys etc trying to figure out why men play as female characters from as recent as this year to as far back as the 90s.
So that's the irony.
Yes, we need a FFXIV BlueSky account!!
