My experience with bluesky is less people wanting their own echo chamber, and more people who are tired of the algorithmic feeds of meta and twitter and wanted a reprieve of the randos and bots showing up in the comments making assumptions and looking for a fight. Like some people in this thread for example :v

Default Bluesky is just resist libs melting down, which offers no solution, no insight, no path forward, no reflection; it's just pure noise. Still better than Twitter right now though. If you look at the people with the most followers right now, like 80% of them are resist libs lol

But honestly the whole point of Bluesky is that it's very easy to create your own echo chamber. People just knee-jerk against "echo chamber" as if that's a problem. No it is not a problem that I don't want to see tweets from 70 IQ idiots.

BTW, there are also mutelists for resist libs (along with the thousands of mutelists for the right) out there so you can very easily filter out all the inane noise on Bluesky.

Fair enough I suppose, I can only vouch for my own experience, but I like the customization options for feeds it has.

Regardless, I don't see how SE maintaining a presence on relevant social media to disseminate announcements and information is something anybody could be against. Whether it's Facebook, twitter, tumblr, bluesky, truth social or whatever. Surely more people having access to information on the platform of their choice can only be a net positive for everyone involved, so I think it's worth consideration

Functionally less of an echo chamber than most if not all other options though. I remember when some people wanted to drowned out a person they didn't like, they couldn't downvote them so they tried to flood their thread with offtopic content and images- those people were warned / punished (not saying I agree with the content but I had warned them that they are clearly trying to control the narrative and should just leave it to the moderators / not enter a thread if they don't like it).

Imo, moderation here is also easy to understand.

Can still criticize certain things, sure, but like what alternative is actually any better when you're trying to allow for diverse voices? Reddit? Literally designed to allow echo chambers. Twitter and blue sky? Lol. I am open to rebuttal but thinking for a moment, I hardly believe there is an easy, currently existing, "this one is better" than what we have here.

Fr, there's no reason for them not to honestly. It takes 0 effort on their part to create a cross-posting bot like they did for the main Square Enix account.

I left Twitter years ago because I hated the drama-focused infinite scrolling algorithm, but I don't mind going on BSKY sometimes 'cause it's easy to curate. It frustrates me a lot when SE do giveaways and competitions and stuff on Twitter only too, I'd like to see them come to other platforms as well

People who are too stupid to filter their feed will always find a reason to complain about social media platforms. BlueSky isn't perfect but it's very serviceable.

(Also why is my account still logged to the forums? LOL I haven't been subbed in a while)
