It is the year of our lord 2025

And we still cannot whisper people who are in a duty, properly cross-server let alone DC.

We still have to travel DC in a very awkward way through main menu.

We still cannot place a glam dresser in our houses.

We still have a fake que everytime we login.

And more. Can Sqenix take us to 2025 finally? We always hear the same excuse about engine limitations or spaghetti code but it is really no excuse. WoW has used the same engine since 2004 and upgraded it overtime when needed, it has cross-faction and cross-realm que, whispers and everything. Heck, u can even transmog where ever u want whenever u want.

I wonder where does all the sub money go? Some races still don't have hats and we are on an extremely long patch cycle with dripfed content.

Sorry the entire budget went towards viera and hrothgar hats for the past 6 years. It should be ready by 2032 but will only contain 5 different undyable hats options.

They had to spend some of it on their other smash hit blockbuster titles like Forespoken and Foamstars.

dont worry. they'll come with a few small things nobody expected instead. people will love it and it will make the bigger issues forgotten for some time. the team will pat their own backs.
and at some point they'll probably announce proudly how one of the patches has as much voice acting as no patch before while still not reaching 100%.. again.

DC travel inside the game is complicated, to be fair. I mean it would be complicated whatever game did it. It's possible, but they would need to prevent your character from writing any data while it's happening, such as by having you in an indefinite loading screen. This is because it is actively copy+pasting your character data to another data center, potentially on the other side of the world in some cases.

The glamour dresser thing on the other hand is silly. There are lots of ways to code that without causing issues, and it could even be done independent of the server - such as by storing this information on a cloud server that the client retrieves from. When you choose what you want, you could just tell the server "I want to wear that today". There actually isn't a good excuse for that.

The queue isn't fake when you login. It's just processing logins 1 at a time. I can accept their reasoning for this - it's probably safer to make sure there aren't conflicts when loading characters. What bothers me is that, from what I can tell, SE doesn't seem to use any multi-threading at all. While it has risks, I guarantee it is possible for them to do - and good programmers should be able to do it without those risks coming true.

To give an example of the lack of multi-threading: knockbacks. If you see 100 people get knocked back at a hunt, you see 32 people very, very slowly get knocked back, one at a time, over about 10 seconds. It's incredibly slow and I can't see a good reason for it in 2025. There wouldn't have been a good reason for it 10 years ago. Same with raid buffs. Computers aren't that slow, and I certainly hope they aren't when they have all these running several zones each:

What would be the benefit of being able to receive /tells in a duty? I’m more than happy with how it’s now. It helps with focus if it’s harder content I’m in.

No. No it really is not.

Like stated, WoW for example has cross-realm functionality and it even auto phases you into other realms if you join a party of another person. In FFXIV, DC aside, U even need to swap servers in a town and sit in an artificial que once again.
if their server technology is so backwards they can't do it then simply fix it. There is no excuse.

meanwhile almost every game since 2000 has been logging in people without fake que like this. Curious.

I don't need to focus on my 1 button healer dps rotation in a rolo and would rather have the normal functionality of being able to keep a whisper convo going instead of having to pick between that or doing a duty.

The limitation on tells in duties is nothing to do with technical limitations and a deliberate design choice, because SE doesn't want players using it to harrass party members when things go wrong and then escape back to their home server without repercussions (it's why /tells were disabled in duties even before world visit/data centre travel was implemented, and that was the reason SE officially gave). They could implement if they wanted to though, they just won't.

Yeah, blacklist doesn't exist. SE is like a helicopter parent that needs to save the FFXIV players from any kind of minor conflict that might send them into a panic attack
