A player like that will also just make stuff up whenever it suits them. Just look at my signature. I dont even do savage in PF.A player who will harass you over your gameplay will harass you over your gameplay regardless of whether fflogs even existed or not.
You're complaining about a tool rather than the problem, which is players who harass other players over their gameplay - and the solution exists, it's called the report feature.
Console players being at mercy of random plugin user in their party uploading things to then result in judgment around reclears etc is annoying
If that information was possible to accumulate evenly for everyone it would be one thing. When it is cherry picked without you being aware - it is entirely another story.
No one cares about your logs. People just want to get their reclears done quickly, roll on loot and come back next week.Console players being at mercy of random plugin user in their party uploading things to then result in judgment around reclears etc is annoying

The only time I could see this potentially being a legitimate issue is if a console player somehow manages to have an incredibly bad run of luck where no one is logging in PF, decides that they want to join a static for the next tier and has a hard time due to having no logs. Even then, if they explained the situation, I think most people would be understanding and would give them a chance to trial. It isn't the same as if they had their logs hidden or something.
Then there should be no problem with an opt-in model for FF Logs. After all, if no one cares to look someone's logs, what does it matter if they're hidden by default?
And if someone has their logs hidden, a static can either decide to restrict themselves to people with public logs, or else demonstrate their superb communication skills and spend 30 seconds asking for logs to be public long enough to be reviewed.Even then, if they explained the situation, I think most people would be understanding and would give them a chance to trial. I guess they could be hidden by default but having your logs hidden is a pretty big red flag so if that were the case, I wouldn't recommend leaving your logs hidden. ...And in that case, why have them hidden by default? Then there should be no problem with an opt-in model for FF Logs. If I had multiple people apply to join a static on the same job and one of them had hidden logs, I'd honestly probably skip the one with hidden logs and try out the others first. Given the asynchronous nature of the internet, I could have already found the right person by the time I've got this other person to unhide their logs, found the time to look through them and then scheduled a trial.
As someone who raids, having your logs hidden is just odd. It gives the impression that you either have something to hide, are defensive about your performance, or are self-conscious about the perception that you're being judged, all of which are very undesirable traits in static members and tend to lead to toxic raid environments. Most statics will want players who are open, honest and give & receive feedback well.

While the numbers website is a useful tool in some cases, the unfortunate reality is that it also makes some people act like insufferable tools. It enables people to make dumb statements like:
- "You don't even raid, so you can't talk."
- "You don't have 99s, so you're not a good player."
- "You don't do ultimates, so I'm right and you're wrong."
But let's be real here, would there really be any loss to making everyone on the site anonymous and only display the names of people who have opted in? If you're just using the site for self-improvement and learning, do you really need to see the name, world, datacenter and raiding history of that zero percentile PCT that died 15 times in Jeuno?
I'd rather they just removed rankings for dungeons, normal raids and alliance raids so that casual players aren't randomly dragged in to people's logs for things that there isn't any real value in logging anyway. I have no idea why they even have rankings for them. You can still use all of the useful analytics tools without rankings, so IDK what the value is supposed to be. You can upload a log of someone hitting a striking dummy in a housing ward if you're just wanting to run it through XIV Analysis or whatever to nail down issues in rotation. While the numbers website is a useful tool in some cases, the unfortunate reality is that it also makes some people act like insufferable tools. Extreme trials are kind of pointless too TBH but having rankings at least makes mount farming a bit less monotonous and encourages people to push damage and farm faster.
If someone is making absolute judgements about a player based on their "best %" for fights, that should tell you everything you need to know though. I know people who have ok logs but prog faster and more consistently than I do and I know people who have a lot of 99s but are legitimately monkey brained and can't function without a raid leader spoon feeding them until they've already cleared 10+ times.
I hadn't actually considered this, lmao. It would still be difficult to prove that someone else didn't upload the log or that someone didn't send you the file for you to upload, but yeah, it would become a bit more sussy.

Pushing for high logs in mount farms is literally the only thing that keeps me sane through 99 kills, and yes, it does encourage others to go faster also
During the heat of the healstrike thread, some dude decided to make a google doc of all posters to check their logs, with the OP being harassed to no end for not having cleared any hard content, all because the posters in there wanted an improvement to the healer role. While the numbers website is a useful tool in some cases, the unfortunate reality is that it also makes some people act like insufferable tools. Instead people made fun with "hurrdurr didn't clear ultimate, who are you to decide if the role is good?? lmao??" and so on.
This is why we'll never be able to have nice things, and SE will simply continue to make jobs braindead to counter this mentality, so any non-raider can clear the raids.
This is one of the major problems with the logs website. People tend to rely on it to prove their worth when it brings none, you can't have any form of discussion about this game anywhere without it eventually descending to "Erm, actually, logs".During the heat of the healstrike thread, some dude decided to make a google doc of all posters to check their logs, with the OP being harassed to no end for not having cleared any hard content, all because the posters in there wanted an improvement to the healer role.

I would have zero problem with the logs site if people would stop being a bigger tool than the logs they worship.
