Do people always over price items?

Maybe its just because im newer to this game, but Im doing the research and some of these itmes on the market are cost waaayy less to make than people sell them for. Its not that I cant afford the weapon... its just I dont wanna feed someones greed.

Example: Ash Composite Bow is being sold for 50,000 on market.

Ingredients: Antelope Horn (16,000 per unit). 2 Ash Lumber (800~1000 per unit). Mole Sinew (100 per unit). .... All together thats 18,000 to 20,000 to make!! Where are people getting their prices from? Its not like its hard to get the items in this game..

Maybe there is something im missing here? Someone enlighten me please.

on the other hand people lower prices extremely. they just dont go down a couple 100 gil , no they have to go down a couple tenthousand gil. Pricedumping like crazy and then you dont get your stuff sold anymore or it takes forever. Sometimes it seems like people are just sitting in the wards all day long looking at the prices and then lower the them right away.

There is no such thing as overpriced as long as something sells. Demand & supply law.

The drop rate + the time it takes to level up crafting, its not surpirsing things are so high, but its out of hand when lvl 1~20 gear costs way more than lvl 40~50 gear. its kinda like hey newbie F off....... but to a certain degree i dont blame the crafters its SE's more to blame as stated in the first part i wrote.

(Forgot to point out for those that dont know: you need to farm 3~5 different items some are easy to get other just aren't worth the effort to make 1 item. then when leveling up the crafting class you need to grind that craft or others which means 30~200 crafts per level.
(leves under lvl 40 are a joke you get more exp grinding & its quicker to get exp. if you do leves you get less exp for 3 items that are usualy way below your level, crap pathetic bonus & take ages to run to a camp to hand it in or pick it up))

just remember one thing. items are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. if someone is willing to pay 50k for the bow you mentioned then someone is stupid to sell it for less. did i think the Explorer's bandana was worth 1.5 mil when the dungeons first came out? no, but someone did because a ton of them sold at that price.

do you really think a 100k home in real life costs 100k to make? when it comes to making items and selling them you can figure the normal is usually cost of materials +150% in construction. if it costs 50k in materials expect to pay 125k for it.

It can get pretty bad ... especially with the Mahogany Pattons, which cost about 12-15K to make, and sell for 60K at times. By a rule, one slot on each retainer is saved for a 999,999,999 or other really high price item so that you don't lose your spot in the wards. So that leaves 18 items, which might take an hour to buy the materials and craft ... maybe 90 minutes ... depends. Now ... IF they all sell in a day ... well they won't always, so lets say only 15 of them do, and that's much easier done only if you have multiple level 50 crafts, because then you can spread out your wares.

    Well, then ...
    20K Materials + sales fees etc etc = 25K
    Sell for 45K = 20K profit = 20K x 15 = 300k/day.
But that's only if you have multiple 50 crafts.

And crafts are a ***** to level.
If you only have one, you can't make 15 of them usually unless you're the only one selling them, or you'll corner the market and get quickly undercut and sell none because no one will sell higher than your 15 items. So you're gonna by a rule sell 3 a day per craft, or 5 on the outside if you keep logging back in to 'sneak another one in there', or 'lower the price'.

(Tarred belt and dated rings are the exception where you can sell more, but you earn less profit per sale so it = out)

So it boils down to, 60-80K max per level 50 craft per day.
If you really wanna haunt the market wards obsessively all day and night you could probably do better.

it;s not much considering that a single +1 strike in logging or mining grade 5 nodes can be over 100K gil alone.
They're hard to get, but you can get a whole bunch in a day + all the other stuff that's not the +1's and 1 mil in a day gathering is doable.

    Then there's drops of battles.
Miltia Chocker (or was it the bracelet?) sells for 15 mil right now.
Alright, that's an extreme example, but in any case...

    That's why.

Price it high and people bitch, price it low and people bitch. In the end I set my price low enough to sell but not lower than it is worth to me....

so your paying 50k for something that cost someone 18k to make

now consier this, they leveled the craft, YOU DID NOT

you re payin the convenience fee of not making it yourself, and not having a friend to make it for you

its not overpriced, you arent supposed to price stuff at cost, you always mark it up
its how it works in the real world, and in games
