I dislike these quests I don't know why this is a thing.
I propose this stops from now on just because it feels like a huge waaste of time and it's not fun at all.

You mean the quests where you have to stealthily follow somebody? yeah, I hate them as well. They would be significantly less annoying if they didn't constantly stop for no reason and turn around and/or run right into your line of sight so they see you, despite you having done absolutely nothing to alert them to your presence.
Even then, I wouldn't exactly be thrilled to have to do them.
I kinda like the "tail the suspect/witness" quests. But I agree somethings about it need to change. Like maybe give the hide skill just for the mission that would make it easier for the player.
"When is a mouth not a mouth?"
Since most of these take place on an overworld map, i usually just mount up. The extra speed makes most of them pretty easy.
I don't mind them when it's once in a while. But, this expac, it seems like they've gone all in on them with several of them both where you have to stealth follow someone and where you have to have a companion join and follow you around. It's ok once in a while, but seems way overused in Dawntrail.
The quests where the npc follows you would be better if there were more places to talk to them about things as you go from point a to b, but it feels like the quests are just designed that way for the hell of it most of the time, which is a shame.
They're fine - I don't think I've failed once since the first one they did in EW when it was a new concept. Even in a worst case scenario it's just remembering the unchanging script of what they do.
I'd much prefer more varied quests like these than the "Talk to 3 townsfolk" and "pick up those rocks" quests that are just a series of right-clicks while my brain slowly dribbles out of my ears.
I enjoyed these quests quite a bit until they added all the ridiculous hazard lights. It would be nice if they added an option to turn all of that off since it really ruins the atmosphere of what should be a sneaky mission.
I really hated these when first introduced in Endwalker. The extra warning indicators helped in Dawntrail, but I am still not a fan of these. The only quests like like less are the escort quests.
Old enough to know what's right, young enough not to choose it.
The follow quests are a different flavor from the "Go here and talk to this NPC" or "Go here and kill 3 things." No way around it, since they are in the MSQ though.
