There is a middle ground in which people who know what they're doing offer periodic suggestions.
Like you have the ability to actually command a team. It would be foolish for you to change a winning formula. You are a rarity. The reasons less-able shot-callers get pushback include:
They are plain bad;
They use way too many SFX/macros;
They and their premade buddies are rude.
And given how reluctant the GMs are to intervene on anything, I'd suggest anyone getting a suspension or caution has probably earned it.
That said, since 7.2 I haven't seen a single shot-caller get told to stfu. I know it happens, but a lot of these silent premades on VC have been playing like that for months. Most are padders with little interest in helping the team or even winning.
Meanwhile the proportion of players making no effort at all seems to me to have increased.
