Moderators do the job of moderation, just as a GM in the game does the job of moderation within the game. They have no possibility to change the current situation. It is the CM's job to report feedback but a feedback report does not imply that anything will really be implemented in the immediate future.

Complaining is legitimate, but one cannot expect a forum moderator to have access to the code to fix the game xD

They care about their players' money, and securing that comes before securing their information.

Can confirm, one of my posts also got axed for whatever reason. Yet there is no official statement on this security issue. Feels like they want to silence some critical voices which doesn't shed a positive light on SE at all, given the current circumstances.

This thread is a double edge sword and not only alerts SE but Alerts malicious actors who visit the forum. Outside of fixing this issue, a forum section needs to be created for reporting these types of things. Further more all posts placed in said section need to be invisible to everyone except moderators and the poster themselves. It would allow far more detailed info too be provided to SE without making it known too the entire forum.

The good people have a right to know what illicit activity is happening under their nose. Any with malicious intentions that join because the issue was brought up here are just going to be a drop in the bucket to be honest. You can just go to Discord or one of the websites dedicated to cheating in FFXIV if you want a much faster route.

The damage is done and the offenders are getting worse each year.

It's just one thing after another with this expansion, isn't it? Imagine staying away from mods and then being affected by them anyway because of SE's own coding. At this point I'd prefer FFXIV as an offline single-player game, seems to be the only way to be free of the stalkers and other data-hoarding creeps. Remember, [name redacted] partially builds on older creep mods and is just a culmination of a weirdly widespread need to keep tabs on other players.

Seriously, what's the endgame for the dev? Reportedly he started the project to find out who was undercutting him on the marketboard, and now he needs a vast database of every possible scrap of information on every possible character, for what exactly? Does someone pay for this sort of information?

Regarding the silence from SE, for me the most likely thing is just waiting it out and whoever they lose they lose. The least profit loss option is to do nothing and just lose whichever players are upset enough to unsubscribe.
Considering client side is never secure the compute power cost needed is probably more than the subscribers lost.

The most damaging to their bottom line I think would be adding an anti-cheat which is the only thing that has a hope of stopping you being tracked because no mods, it's not like to your majority pure social player there is anything else to do in the game besides use mods to make it a Second Life 2.0
If they didn't want to completely destroy their raiding scene they'd have to acknowledge allowance of certain third party software.

The cheapest option is to just lose players.

You do not need the main plugin or any of its forks to get this data. Packet sniffers are old and completely separate pieces of software.

It's not drop in the bucket really. If you are someone looking to annoy and make some one else uncomfortable. All the talk about the mod is like promotional material to them dripping everything they want.

Blacklist and report them, there's nothing else you can do. If you use an alt to craft only, consider crafting in an inn room and using /busy... I think being in an instanced duty is something, but you can't enter a duty on crafters/gatherers. You can't be player searched (ingame, not the plugin) if you're in an instanced duty unless you run into someone running it (plugin) nearby, then your location would be logged (to my understanding)...

I'm so sorry... I can't offer you much comfort but this is the only advice I can give. I don't think many stalkers have the finances to keep buying service accounts just to harass someone one time only to get blocked entirely, not saying it can't happen but at some point the expense might simply not be worth it. (This is why I believe we absolutely need the account wide blacklist to stay)
