Why Savage Feels Like a Chore

I was just wondering why I am not enjoying Savage content. Well, first, I fell into the trap of thinking that maybe I just can't handle this difficulty.

Then one day, one of my friends sent me a gift of Elden Ring. I thought, 'Hey, I didn't clear Savage content, maybe Elden Ring is too much for me.'

But after a few weeks, I just finished it. But why?

I asked my friend, "Why can I beat one of the hardest games, but I cannot clear Savage?"
Well, his answer was easier than the questions: "Because FFXIV Savage feels like a test."

I know many people just like me who didn't enjoy Savage or at least didn't enjoy Savage after Shadowbringers. For those people, share with me your thoughts.

stopped doing savage after shadowbringers launch for one good reason : i just felt like i was wasting my time in it, yeah i had fun doing coils/alexander/omega, but that fun came from the ppl i was doing the content with not the content itself. if you add to this that i didn't felt the rewards were worth it then i stopped caring (and anyway unsynch destroyed that part of me who love a challenge in a video game because it destroyed the point of trying hard).

imo ffxiv does a really bad job character/power progression wise and the game design/gear treadmill doesn't help.

Elden ring isnt hard game. Savages also not hard.

Elden Ring potentially more fun than Savages. /thread

One is a single player game.

The other is a multiplayer game, where even if you are really good at it, the other 7 might not be. The pulls you do perfectly on, there are 7 people who also need to do it perfectly, which significantly reduces the chances of getting through it.

Yeah but what makes it fun?

ER is punishing way more than savage

yeah it feels wasting of time I agree, but why is it harder to go savage "mentally", than going to ER bosses.

Multiplayer is a factor but the game is less punishing than ER you can have raise not only single target but also as a limit break.

Part of the difficulty in Savage is working with others which doesn't exist in Elden Ring.

ER exploits more you abilites and knowledge about the game, that give u a lot of options.

Savages testing the memorization of the dance. Thats havent a lot of options.

hard to compared difficult content between SP and MP.

Personally I don't generally like difficult content when playing with randoms, where you might get situations where you know what to do, but somebody else is holding the group back, (and vice versa, where you are the one holding ppl back)
In single player games however, I love hard challenges because it's only me and the game, and it doesn't matter how much time I waste learning, and I don't need to rely on a bunch of unknowns.

for example If the game offered Ultimates, and savages with trust parties, I would do it in an instant.
