FF14 in 10 years

So Yoshi had mentioned that DT would be a set up for another 10 years of 14, yeah?

Where do YOU think ff14 is gonna be in 10 years at this rate?

Are we gonna have 50+ jobs?
Still the same formula of game design?
Hrothgar and Viera STILL without hats?
Still using spaghetti code excuse?

Just curious to see what people think on what another 10 years of FF14 would look like.

If I would base my expectations from how things are right now..
FFXIV in 10 years will be on a lifeline like so many other MMO's.

In 10 years we'll get:
8 dungeons and 3 trials and 2 extremes for expansion release, new TT cards, minions, etc.
5 patch dungeons, 4 patch trials, 5 patch extremes, 4 unreals, 3 beast tribes, 3 custom deliveries, 3 variants, 3 criterion, 2 ultimates, 1 chaotic?
A Field Operation and Exploratory content, 12 new raids and their savage versions

and probably have 29 main battle jobs (not including limited ones) and more Ocean Fishing routes to the Old World, the New World, Thavnair (if it doesn't pass through already), Meracydia

FFXIV will be offline and dead.

Cause it's one of SEs big cash cows and if FFXIV falls they can't keep it around and on maintenance mode.
If it doesnt even take SE down with it.

FF11 says otherwise. That is still around and on maintenance mode.

If for whatever reason SE's income reduced to hardly anything, the logical result would be they would not have the funds for other projects that are destined to fail and they may even have to make people redundant. But I am sure they would still be able to have some staff to maintain it. Although at that point, there would likely be companies trying to buy SE.

However there are some other factors here. The next FF7R game is still in the works. They could obviously try the same with other popular FF games such as FF9 after that for the money grab. And they may have another numbered FF game in the works.

In any case, this game was completely fine when it had half the active population it currently does.

There little to no chance that FFXIV in 10 years will be anything more than an MMORPG in "maintenance mode" like FFXI.

There is even a chance that another MMORPG from Square (Final Fantasy or not) would be here to replace it as the "main Square Enix MMO".

Whether or not FFXIV changes trajectory, it will be long dead by 2034. Assuming that the entire genre doesn't collapse in on itself sometime between now and then, this is how I think the fate of FFXIV will play out:

I have my doubts that WoW will continue to release expansions after The Last Titan, their supposed Endwalker, probably entering maintenance mode around late 2028. With them out of the picture, the time would be right for a newcomer MMORPG to fill the massive hole in the market WoW would leave behind.

Assuming that FFXIV doesn't add a non-paid MSQ skip (they won't), the massive entry time sink turning away new players would only worsen, and assuming that FFXIV doesn't course correct their dev philosophy (they won't), they will eventually begin to bleed their long-time active players... especially if 8.0 comes and goes with no noticeable change in the formula.

I'm betting that XIV will either shut down or enter maintenance mode by 9.3.

Suppose you could argue that the graphical SLOW updates are apart of future proofing.

But at the rate they are going, I don't really believe anything they are trying to sell. There's no roadmaps, we are still missing features from THIS expansion. I think its all P.R and trying to foster goodwill.

But no other MMO's really to compete against, so why would they bother ramping up the rate.
