The issue with Dawntrail and importance of 8.0

That's been an ongoing problem for multiple expansions now, where the english translation often changes the tone and meaning of the original japanese dialogue or completely leaves out vital information.

How dare those filthy westerners sully the good name of our glorious Nippon by translating their words! When will the west learn!?

Learn Japanese, I mean.

Both the german and french translations do not have these issues from what I've heard.

A great deal will depend on whether or not they listen/pay attention to the various forms of feedback they've been receiving.

Even if they take in the criticism, changes impacted by it all very likely wont even happen by 8.0. So yeah... unless they decide to throw a ton of devs into FFXIV all of the sudden, their current development cycle wont see the much needed changes by 8.0... all we know currently is there are changes to jobs coming 8.0, this very likely WONT have much if any intaken from 7.0+ complaints, its a pre-planned change...

While 7.0 was bad I wouldn't say it being a breaking point.
I considered 8.0 a breaking point cause if 8.0 fails we will most likely see a big drop in players, sub numbers and since FFXIV is a major cashcow for SE if FFXIV nosedives in profits it may crash SE.
Right now people are still begrudgingly hanging on.
But if they fumble 8.0 I think we will se an Exodus of players.

I could be wrong though and if 7.2 falls flat and the zone is trash, not linked to relic grind and relics being tomestones again it could happen sooner.

Sure it's not even 7.2 but believing that we are seeing any changes to their "content pipeline" in any 7.X is complete copium. They have never done so in any previous expansion and the situation isn't nearly dire enough yet for them to finally get their heads out of the sand.


I already wrote it off when I heard that there will be no major changes to the job design until 8.0, because that is by far my biggest issue with the game. I have no issue running the same shit if the moment to moment gameplay is fun, but under the current system I can't even be bothered to farm savage beyond the 8 weeks it took me to get my warrior weapon.


But funnily enough I'm too apathetic about Dawntrail to really hate it.

It is just bad, it isn't actively insulting my intelligence like Endwalker did.
