Precedent also tells us that Cosmic Exploration should release in either 7.1 or 7.2 - obviously only 7.2 remains. I'm expecting this one to receive a lot of updates since the point seems to be to explore lots of different worlds.

Depends how they approach it I guess, the cosmic exploration has some real like REAL ramifications for world building and I severely dislike going into space before we have even explored the whole of the map of Hydaelyn. But I have a feeling they are approaching this again from the point of view of "Fun vs actual worldbuilding"
The expedition will be interesting to see how they work that out and try to combine the best of Bozja and Eureka, hopefully by adding some new concepts or trying them out.

Suppose we'll see, I'll hold my breath until things are actually released and explored a bit more.

I really can't see them getting out of this comfort zone they've been building for so many years, with game balance and job design.

Going for major changes when they don't nerf any job feels like insanity. In 4 to 5 months since DT released, jobs were still unbalanced for FRU, with the .08 patch being skipped. All I can do is hope it will be a positive surprise. I don't think much will change.

they are in dire need of influences from outside. outside their company or even outside their culture. they are stuck with their thinking and ideas.... where is the yoshida who made his people play wow to gather new ideas?
is that his vision of new heights? stucking on the same ideas and thoughts? kinda like... 1.0

hire some people from outside... oh and that would help with their shortage of manpower too. just be open for people who dont speak japanese

It's funny and sad to go back and see slides from his presentation about the transition from 1.X to 2.0 and think about what things are like now.

But of course there is a reason for that. The Japanese version makes references to Japanese culture that we would not understand because of not being Japanese. The idea of referencing Japanese culture and history is to "create emotions" for the player to feel. So if you read a reference to Japanese culture and don't know what it refers to, then it doesn't evoke an emotion.

To solve this issue, localization teams try to refer to culture that the relevant language readers understand in order to evoke similar emotions that the writers were intending the player to feel. To make sure this is the case, they consult with the writers directly to make sure they are evoking the intended emotions and conveying it in the intended way and ask them multiple times in different ways to make sure they got it right, particularly for the MSQ.

The people who routinely dog on Japanese to English localizations don't understand the difference between "direct translation" and "localization" and never will. They have an agenda. They don't want to understand it. It would be the rational thing to do and they're often not rational.

Then many of them will eat up the English subtitles provided by the same team, without a hint of irony, and think very little of it. Or they'll regurgitate some shit they heard from some dork on Twitter who has a middle school level understanding of Japanese and fancies themselves an EHM HEM HEM expert on the topic.

This is hilarious. They say this forum isn't an echo chamber of negativity, but the second people see a remotely positive comment about DT they start posting unflattering pictures and calling you darling.

The vast majority of players enjoy DT well enough. It isn't most people's favorite expansion but that's ok.

It's not the best expansion, but it's far from the worst. I've enjoyed it a lot more than I haven't so far.

Despite every metric from here to timbuktu stating otherwise. If you honestly, hand on your heart believe that statement then you're either ignorant as they come, or a brand spanking new player who has no idea what they are talking about.

Everywhere you go isn't wrong, maybe.. just maybe, that your opinion isn't the ''majority'' of all opinions, and maybe.. just maybe.... being ignorant and brushing off genuine critiques isn't the best way to go about things.

Haven't seen many of those around here. Mostly just people who get weirdly aggressive when you say you liked a videogame.

Perhaps if you go through my post history again and respond to things I haven't even said here, I'll start to be convinced that you're actually the normal one.
