I'm the same as you: outfits that come out of the fantasy world I have in my head tend to disturb me. I hate soubrettes and other wacky ‘disguises’ (frogs, I hate you).

Well, there's not much point in limiting glamour any more. If visual consistency is important to you, you're already obliged to ignore a good proportion of the glamours you come across IG. In that sense, allowing people to expand their mirage boards won't really have any impact.

It is important for the developers to know that leaving the game as is not doing a service to the purists who want a consistent game aesthetic nor the people who want an open glam game. So right now this is not satisfying any demographic.

Instead of making everyone mad, they should please one side or the other, that is, make the game look cohesive again which I find almost impossible or free up the game to make the other side happy. All I'm asking is that SE makes at least one side happy instead of frustrating everyone. The middle is not a good place to be with this issue.

Same as Guild Wars 2 did, they already gone overboard with the real life clothing stuff. It’s still supposed to be a somewhat medieval/steampunk-ish world, yet every second guy you run into looks like he’s fresh out of downtown L.A.

Every time I see someone with that fanny pack-around-chest piece glamed I get an urge to alt f4 the game.

Leaving it as it is won't make you happy, because you already have a 60% chance of finding at least one player wearing a troll costume to a fight and it sure as heck doesn't make the majority of players happy because there are some genuine pieces that would make for a good outfit they can't use because of these restrictions.

Sure I'll give you this, in a world where tanks still looked like tanks it would make a good case to preserve this integrity, but the integrity, we can all agree, is no longer there.

I don't really have a problem when someone wears the pig, elephant, frog or whatever costume. There is no class for example whose armor is generally based on the look of pigs, elephants etc. so there can be no confusion in that regard. But when someone wears a class or role armor it should be the one corresponding to the class or role currently played.

So again, when someone wears a pig costume or a bikini, you don't think "he/she is wearing that 'armor', so it is class/role X". But when someone wears a tank armor for example, you should be able to think "he/she is wearing tank armor, so it is a tank". So in my opinion it shouldn't be that you can't even recognize classes/roles anymore based on the class/role armor they are wearing.

I quit GW2 precisely for this. People stacking infusions to become essentially walking glowsticks, uninspired gemstore, nerfs to istan (guys we don't want you farming all the time! We care about your health! NYOOO). It really felt pointless.

I quit around Path of Fire. I returned abit for End of Dragons but then quit. I got tired of the loop of 'farm gold to get gems or craft legendary' 'burn out, quit' 'come back, farm gold'. The game genuinely looks ugly and I miss the HoT days...

Anyway here is my black mage's impression of a gladiator/paladin

That’s okay though, the cat is still out of the bag because you can wear heavy plated armor by all classes that they sell in the cash shop, like the heavensward, aymeric attires and all the heavy plate armor that looks extremely tanky from PVP. Similarly; tanks can wear several early level robes plus the cash shop items that look more mage like.

So regardless, your statement has already been defeated by the games allowances on gear already. You will be equally confused if someone shows up wearing heavy plated armor mail from PVP as a white mage as you would be with any regular tank piece.

Given this reality, there is no reason to keep restricting the remaining armor, as it makes no sense to allow healers to wear plate mail while not allowing healers to wear plate mail. We have reached the contradictory nature of the current state of the game.

The ones that look like walking particle pollution abominations are those showing off their excessive gold or bought them for sake of annoying other players.

Very tiniest few of those that actually got them from specific world boss drops. Most of those sell em for the obnoxious amount of gold they're worth instead.

Oh I absolutely agree with Yoshida, I would like to keep some visual integrity in this game...shame the developers themselves have no qualms about throwing modern kpop outfits, school uniforms and contemporary real life fashion into the game themselves, then plastering everything in Neon Lights straight out of Cyberpunk 2077 and rounding it off with goofy animal mascot costumes.

Many years ago I would've absolutely said that no, you shouldn't be able to wear Paladin plate armor on your caster, that look is tied to it's defensive value and you are about as sturdy as wet tissue paper. That has slowly shifted to "you at least shouldn't be able to wear job specific armor, since it's aesthetic is directly tied to that one job.", because it obviously wasn't a feasible position to hold anymore.

But XIV already has about the same visual cohesion as games like Tera and BDO, so I really don't care anymore.
