Free Companies and Banks

Ok.. First off.. Not a bad idea. I can count hundreds of people over the career of playing XI who would cry because their LS leader for a say Dynamis/EGLS would just disband the group and keep all the profits or him/herself. So here's the thing... It's not going to be all your money. I'm not saying all your funds/treasure is tied to your free company. It's purely donated gear/gil. Or if you work towards something that no one needs and you decide as a group to sell it for the free company. Not everyone is so untrustworthy. Having a bank would allow a free company to store things as a group. And see what's there. Seriously how bitter do you have to be that you can only think of negative stuff. People aren't going to quit over this.

WoW had a decent guild bank system where certain tabs were locked for higher privilege people (officers or guild leader) and also had a log showing all deposits and withdrawals.

As far as the negative comments go about not being able to trust the people running the banks...should you even be involved with a group with a leader like that?

You do realize you don't actually have to donate things to a guild bank...right? There, solved your problem.

I would only be skeptical if there was a requirement by your guild leader/ls leader to donate a certain amount of items/money to your guild on a regular basis. And even then...it's hard to say.

Whatever system of prevention SE implements, people will come up with ways to counter that. It happens in real life, and it will happen in games. The two real cash economy games that I have played, both had fraud and stealing. When you talk about real money, thieves will come.

What it comes down to at the end, and the only thing we have to go on in any shared banking system as proposed, is the trust you have with the people you are playing with and them on you.

It really does come down to trust. I can honestly say if a ls tried to have a tide from members I would be skepticle. What I am proposing is just about donating items/funds w/e. And being able to have stocks of things for old and new members alike. And in regards to the funds part, our ls has been working on a bank already. As a way to be able to buy members things that are needed but very very hard to get in the future. And the possibility of events that cost gil to enter. But again it's purely voluntary. Awesome we got a dev response on this as well. And glad to see they had already thought of something along the lines of op.
