Because of the graphical rework and the technical changes they did to accommodate that. Same reason we didn't really get an MSQ in EW patches and instead got a padded out trial raid series. That's what happened when you ignore people feedback,
People liked Bozja why remove it in EW?
People would love to have a job identity why removing anything could be unique about the job?
Why DT didn't meet player expectations?
there is a disconnection between Yoshi P team and players, or why would this forum pop-up after DT?
It's the only answer that makes any sense.
The graphics update was needed. They were also developing FFXVI during EW.
While the FFXIV devs have definitely made some terrible decisions and deserve to be questioned (Looking at you Viera/Hrothgar headgear and Femgar rigging), it would be unfair to say they haven't done these things. At least the first and third thing. I have seen them do that with Bug Reports, and they had done the first one a few times but stopped because them explaining the change only seemed to make people even angrier and ngl... if explaining myself is only going to make people yell at me more... I'd rather just stay silent and take the lesser amount of abuse. Some game developers engage in actual conversations with their players. When they see a complaint, they explain why they made the change, what their intentions were. Even if they don't plan on reverting the changes, that sort of thing can help players feel like their concerns are being heard.
Some game developers poll their players' opinions to see what works, what doesn't, what they want to see more of, what they want to see less of.
Some game developers, when they close bug reports as "working as intended", leave a comment explaining why that feature is "working as intended". When a bug report doesn't have enough information, they leave a comment explaining what information needs to be added; they don't just close it and move it to "not enough information".
Literally any of these things would be better than what XIV's developers do, or rather, don't do.
Please scroll through the Working As Intended and Insufficient Information forums and actually look at the threads there. They absolutely do not reply to anything there. While the FFXIV devs have definitely made some terrible decisions and deserve to be questioned (Looking at you Viera/Hrothgar headgear and Femgar rigging), it would be unfair to say they haven't done these things. Debatable, but also irrelevant. I was stating why we didn't get as much content, not really critiquing it. They pulled developer resources off of the patch series to work on the Dawntrail expansion.
Y'all get defensive super quick sometimes.
