Free Trial Player turned Full Game player, steam appsite keeps opening with launcher

back when I was on the free trial, every time i opened the launcher it just opened up the launcher by itself, it never opened the steam app website thing. but now after installing the full game launcher it opens not only the app site window but also the cd keys popup that had all the dawntrail preorder codes as well as my full game access code, EVERY BLOODY TIME i kick up the launcher now. has anyone else had the issue with the steam app site like this or did i just foul something up somewhere somehow?

The first thing to be aware of is that the game is available on several platforms, and they are not compatible with eachother: PC, Steam, Mac, Playstation, Xbox

I believe that if you play the free trial with the PC version, that you can upgrade to the Steam version, but if you do this you cannot go back. You will always have to buy expansions via Steam and you will always have to launch via Steam (they cracked down on opening the game directly without Steam, probably due to pressure from Valve).

It probably shouldn't be opening up the CD Keys window every time. That seems strange. Make sure you have logged into the mogstation and entered all of the keys.

There are a few ways to get the "full game including Dawntrail":
- Starter Edition (removes free trial restrictions, pays your first 30 day subscription) + Dawntrail (allows you to play beyond level 70 all the way to level 100)
- Complete Edition (gives you both the above in one package)

Those instructions connect your game account to your Steam account, which you can't reverse as far as I know. So if you've done it, you will have to either launch it via Steam every time and keep Steam open, or make a new game account entirely.

When you bought the game on Steam and registered the CD Key you got. You effectively linked your copy to Steam as FFXIV does have 2 licenses for those on PC
Windows which is simply through the official Square Enix client and Steam as its own license
So you gotta keep Steam open all the time when you play the game, tho you can disable the Steam overlay and play the game without it.

Oh yeah no I have all that set up on my end but the launcher keeps opening the steam app window, I only had the 3 keys for the completed game access, dawntrail and the preorder goodies for dawntrail

Oh yeah I know that, steams always on when I start up my pc and before I start up any steam games but this is the only game that opens up any of the steam app windows

for the cd key pop i think there is option you will need to tick it .it will not show you the cd key but downside is that next time you buy expansion on steam it will not show up next time you open the game and you have to input the key manually first time you register it

OK thats weird, NOW its no longer popping open the steam app window when firing up the launcher, i dunno if it was cause of ticking that box with the cd keys or not but at least thats one annoying bit mysteriously resolved
