Is there some sort of weekly competition on these boards for who can show the least amount of empathy?

Empathy wont repair your statue. Telling you the harsh truth prevents you from doing the same mistake again (hopefully)
I see it from Square Enix's point of view as well because if the return window is a long time, it's easy to break it in that time and claim it was damaged in transit.
I don't know if superglue would work well, but all the adverts I see for it make it seem like it does if it's applied carefully so you can't see it.
I don't think it's about a lack of empathy, this is honestly OP's own fault.
Here's a different story:
When I received my statue I noticed it was broken as well during the unwrapping. One of Zodiark's wing was clean cut off. I first thought I was too rough with it, but feeling how heavy it was and that it was still neatly in the box I assumed it arrived broken. So I took pictures and contacted SE support with said pictures. It took a while for support to reply but in the end they did send me a new one. (Albeit without the item code for obvious reasons)
So what's the difference? I did it on the same day I received the statue (within time), OP likely did not.
That however doesn't mean that it doesn't suck for OP, but checking the statue beforehand would have solved the issue, especially since it was already opened to get the emote code, it wouldn't have taken a lot more to get it out for a small check.
So no, I don't think it's fair that people bash SE's support in this case while they do follow up on a broken statue within their terms of service.
As for OP - It sucks for you, but if the broken part is clean enough, try to glue it together. I also glued my broken statue together and it's still holding up, also please, take this as a valuable lesson and always check merch that you order, even if it's a present for in the future. I really doubt that someone would mind a box already being opened if you tell them you did a check to see whether it was broken or not.
Where d'yall live that mail routinely turns up smashed? Is it not packed properly?
from some of the statues I've seen they don't seem like quality made, but I could be wrong and maybe it's different in person
that and it isn't surprising that the areas with the least amount of plastic, or whatever they use, are susceptible to breaking / being snapped off
hopefully the user can get in touch and see what can be done, but I assumed that step was already done prior to the post here
it sucks though, and I know personally I'd be pretty upset about it
Can't speak for others, but the outer box had no fragile warning on it, so that's something to consider for SE. Otherwise, the actual box was next to some padding in the outer box, and the statue itself was tucked inside a mold of plastic and wrapped in plastic too to keep the tender parts from breaking.
However, the courier that SE used is notorious for rough-handling packages over here. Then again, other merch I have received from SE all turned out fine, this is the first one that ended up being broken. Just because that it happens, doesn't mean that it happens all the time.
It could have been a manufacturing fault for all we know, the truth is: we don't know how and when it broke, only that it arrived broken.
I used to have a collection of over a thousand figurines (lost them because my apartment burned down) and in all that time I have never had a figure come broken in the box. Typically any really fragile parts like wings or spiky stuff with dubious connection points would be detached and expected to be inserted to complete the figure on arrival. I dunno, maybe it's the normal rate for figure breakage but seems to be a lot of complaints regarding it.
Sorry to hear that is awful and the coulda, woulda, shoulda may help for future purchases but doesn't help right now to get to an outcome of a repaired/fixed item.
Anyway, do you have any consumer protection laws in your geographical location? Have you tried Square Enix again maybe on X or something, seems a crappy practice to behave like that and all I can assume is try again and see if anyone can help or a local place that might be able to do a repair (which i know isn't the same).
can you glue the broken parts together?
