Cuchulainn's Bot Problem

This is going to be a bit of a rant. I would’ve put this topic on the [Worlds (Group NA/EU/OC) for Cuchulainn server] page…but we still don’t even have one.

I’ve played this game for a while, originally started on Primal, but when the game’s player base exploded, I moved to Dynamis when the new servers opened so I could avoid the huge queues since I couldn’t afford to wait. It’s a little troublesome at times because of the lack of people doing certain content/any content, but I’ve been happy I got to login and play (Duty Support + Trusts have really helped...except when I got back to the Shadowbringers Trials...).

Everything was great for a while, but now Cuchulainn is starting to have longer and longer queues that keep creeping higher. You might think, ‘Oh new players are starting there!’ or ‘Lots of travelers or wanderers?’ which both are somewhat true. But all FFXIV players know about the bot problem, and it’s become insane on Cuchulainn.

Go to any of the usual bot spots (Like Gridania or that one bard quest spot) and you’ll see a never-ending stream of the lala bots teleporting around. I understand the reason not to ban bots as soon as they are found, but holy moly something needs to change cause I can’t be on a server that is BOTH devoid of players making it almost impossible to do roulettes quickly or easily AND has huge queue times because of all the bots.

I can’t even leave here anymore because it’d be a paid ticket to transfer at this point (Unlike when they offer a free ride here to help populate it/depopulate the other areas).

While sitting at the Grand Company typing this post, I’ve seen at least 40-60 unique bots teleporting around in front of Vorsaile Heuloix and the Serpent Personnel Officer. I mean…make the out of bounds stuff like an instant kill zone or something? When I go afk, my camera does that thing where it shuffles around and does cinematic shots of the area and it’s ridiculous how many times it just focuses on the bots in the void. It’s a bad look.

TLDR: Bots suck. I can’t do content MSQ trials or roulettes without a 60+ minute queue, but bots are RAMPANT on the server. And we apparently don’t get a server thread for Cuchulainn on the forums from what I could find?

I know, I usually visit Primal or Aether when I have the time and want to do roulettes or PvP, that and I had to go somewhere else when I needed to do the Lv79 MSQ trial because I could never get it to pop on my DC before I had to get off for the night. But it's not really the point. That helps the problem of there being a lack of players on my server, but not the actual problem presented. I would've just kept Primal as my home DC and had all the benefits of a player-populated server if there was going to be stupidly long queues at all hours (not even dead hours are safe) on the fresh servers because of the bots.

Yeah, I see the regular Lodestone reports. Banning is all well and good, but this has been a problem for years and years and the botters are still using the same methods/travels. Additional changes could or should've been made by now. The whole reason to stall a ban and do it in waves is to gather data on what methods the botters are using so they can counter-attack with a heavier hand and make it more difficult to update their bots macros/codes. But it clearly hasn't been proving effective. Like I said, other methods like insta-killing anyone OOB and sending an automated report with coords and character info could help since almost every bot zips around OOB. I'm sure there are other things too, but that was just something quick I mentioned before. I wouldn't have cared as much if the pure ARMY of them wasn't causing the friggen queue times. I ain't move to a less populated server for this nonsense.

There's gotta have been something that could've been changed over all these years seeing as the simple slap and tickle of a ban ain't doing anything.

Players (or bots) already online won't have any effect on your queue times. They're already processed and in. The batch login processor is separate from the world servers, and just hands information off.

Unless you are seeing literally hundreds of bots all constantly in a state of logging in, I question how "huge" your queue times are getting.

As they cycle in and out their bots, yeah they are constantly logging in and out of the server. And just standing in one of the popular spots you can see over a hundred unique bots in under an hour easily and as they're running countless bots to get through content and cycling them so you can do the math on how many that would be per hour per day logging into a server and clogging shit up. I know for sure it isn't because of actual players logging in/DC travelers (Feel free to come and visit our dead ass server and see the 5 people running around). So go ahead and ask your question, cause with our population size/active hours we shouldn't be seeing the queues that we are, especially during our off hours (when the bots are still hella active meaning yeah they still be logging in and out...). Like I said, this was a rant post about bots on Cuchulainn. Do you like having bots???

The DawnTrail areas are full of bots. At first I just thought it was funny that three of them would all mount up at the same time, and then fly away at the same time, but then yesterday there was 20! I couldn't get to the fates fast enough. I find it really hard to believe that it was 20 people randomly doing fates, and unfortunately you can't really report them unless they offer RMT.
