Is FATE exp the same for FATEs of the same level?

I had something unexpected happen while FATE farming in The Lochs. Is this normal behavior?:

I completed a regular, non-boosted level 69 fate and killed a maiden during it. That fate gave "52,728 (+115%) experience points."

I then flew and completed a boosted fate, with the maiden buff, also level 69, and it gave "51,502 (+250%) experience points."

Why would a boosted fate with a maiden buff give less EXP than a regular fate? I was the same job and same job level for both fates, and both fates were completed with gold.

You're going to need to share the names of the FATEs here for context.

Sure: the first FATE was "Taking Kurrea Business" and the second FATE that "broke" was "Ancelot's Fear."

NM (Notorious Monsters) FATEs provide more base FATE exp than the "Kill a bunch of monsters" FATE's, as you gain exp from the monsters you kill + the base exp of the FATE, so if both types of FATEs had the same base exp, then from an exp grind situation, it wouldn't make sense to do the NM FATEs.

Further, if more than one unpartied player is working the multi monster FATE, your kill count vs their kill count maybe be off, even though both kill counts count to the FATE's completion.
As in if the FATE completes with 20 monsters killed, if you killed 9 monsters while the other player(s) killed 11, then the exp you gained total will be a bit less than the other player(s).

There are other exp adjusting factors, like Chain Kills or exp buffs and such, your character's level vs the FATE's level and the level of the monsters in it, or the amount of players in the zone, that can effect the overall exp totals.
So, generally you will almost always earn a bit less exp from multi monster FATES than a NM fate even though both types are designed to give similar amounts of exp overall.

Are you sure you didn't switch jobs? I saw figures like that when using a job below the expansion's level range. It being a boss/mob FATE didn't matter either.

I am sure that I did not change jobs, however, I think the earlier post in a roundabout way answered the original question: NO, those two specific FATEs do not give the same amount of EXP, in particular Ancelot's Fear, part one of a three part chain, gives large increases in the amount of EXP from fate 1 to 2 and fate 2 to 3. Ancelot's Fear gives about half the amount as most other fates in the zone (also, some other websites not linked show incorrect data regarding the fate's exp amount).

This must be a holdover from the Stormblood and prior eras as I don't think I've ever seen such a discrepancy in fate EXP in anything ShB or later. I checked the level 70-79 fates briefly, and fates of the same level all give exactly the same amount of exp regardless of the fate type.
