It's just like... what is there to care about anymore? I don't care about any of the characters. I don't care what happens to. the world. Like in Stormblood it felt like "Oh wow we're going to free Ala Mhigo from the Garleans" and then Endwalker it was this big crescendo where we're going to fight Garlem-- just kidding here's a mostly empty zone full of snow. I think that was the point at which a lot of people felt let down.

OK, so we're not fighting Garlemald but instead this weird sinister little punk who wants to take over a god and set us up for an epic duel between good and ev---no just kidding, he's toast in one quick and easy boss run. It's like they keep building us up for bigger and bigger things only to snatch it away like a tired old trope. I get that Dawntrail was going to be a clean slate and a fresh beginning but I don't care a bit about Wuk Lamat, Koana, Zsa Zsa Ja Ja or a city full of droids.

We've been strung along to the point where now, content patches are longer, content is dripping in and rewards are lackluster at best. Remember the Starlight Celebration where we got an entire outfit, a minion, a wallpaper, a bunch of interior and exterior decorations, THREE FREAKING CHRISTMAS TREES and a partridge in a pear tree? I'm not saying every event should be like that but it really did feel like we were valued as players and not numbers to power a gluttonous profit wheel where the money and time we invest gets siphoned off for other pet projects.

I know it sounds like "My god if you hate it that much just quit" but it's clear I'm not alone. When they needed our help to keep the game afloat, it was like "Here's a letter from the producer and community interaction and forum updates and investments and rewards that felt worthwhile". Now that we've done our part it's like "Please spend more money on Mog Station. Also no Viera/Hrothgar hats".
