ok, fair point. df is pretty awful to weaker players. and a lot of player dont seem to know what it means if someone writes 'newbe' or 'be patient pls' in their df description.

and finding a community to do these things with you is also harder done than said... which is kinda weird. because people often say how social this game is... except in df and in connecting with other people through content.

The issue right now is there to much higher-end content there is casual to mid-core content. Of all the replayable content we've gotten since DT came out the only thing Midcore we have is the EXs and maps but nothing much else meanwhile raiders have gotten, a savage tier, an ultimate, and now CODCAR. I said it before in another reply on the forums, as a raider myself I wish CODCAR didn't come out right now. My plate is pretty full with looking for a group to finish the tier and to do FRU. I don't need another fight to prog or grind...I much rather have something little more lend back, something to grind when Im not trying to learn a fight. There is nothing in ff14 right now that gives me that at all, even in EW all I did was log in to raid and then log out since there was nothing to do outside raiding. At least in SB and Shb on off days I would jump into eurake and bojaz to grind in there and have fun interacting with others but we don't have that right now in ff14 and it has made the game worst in a lot of ways I feel.

Yeah man, your level of dishonesty is simply malicious.

Here is the official site that you get when you search for the name of the game in a search engine of your choice (after selecting a language): https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/
Starts at the very top with "Adventure awaits you beyond the horizon". With a splash featuring 4 of the ARR Warrior of Lights on chocobos. Showing one Derplander with a ginormous axe strapped on his back, one character that is clearly some kind of wizard, one small character wearing the archetypical White Mage attire that is iconic for this class in the Final Fantasy series, and one pretty bulky character in full scale armor with a large shield and sword. Hmm, yes, what kind of adventure could they all be possibly going on? Probably fishing.
Followed by some "endless possibilities to customize your adventurer", followed by "What is Final Fantasy XIV" - "Become the Warrior of Light, and fight to deliver the realm from certain destruction" (emphasis mine).
Right under that, some job splash art featuring several characters in their job artifact gear, with "FIGHT YOUR WAY" in huge letters to the right of it.
And THEN under that we get the part of the product description that you got in your ad. Right at the very bottom of the official page.

As I said, pure dishonesty. I mean, what's next, will you unearth that old memey advertisement that made FF14 look like a generic mobile game and didn't even feature any of the characters? Come on please. This kind of dishonest behavior is the very heart of the problem with a large part of the population and any content that gets released. You can go and afk in Limsa all day long, but that doesn't change the fact that this game is first and foremost a combat game. That's what traditionally has and will continue to get the most amount of development time. Even all the call about "midcore" content that is oh so popular in this game, is a call for combat content, just not as difficult. If it irritates you so much that combat content gets released with rewards, you really need to reevaluate your relationship with this game and why you are even here. This is like all the "I'm just here for the xp" people in PvP.

This isn't caused by the chaotic alliance raid. This is caused by how low the skill floor has been pushed.

You can literally AFK through most of the content in the game and as a result, endgame is now populated primarily by people who legitimately have no idea how to play the game.

Imagine if putting the key in the ignition was enough to pass your driving test. The disparity between the average driver and people who actually know how to drive a car would be insurmountable and car crashes would be commonplace. This is essentially what has happened in FFXIV.

I don't think casual content needs to be hard but I think the game would be in a much healthier state if it actually required people to play the game. Maybe tanks shouldn't be able to solo everything. Maybe you shouldn't be able to heal level 100 content exclusively with Cure 1. Maybe it should be possible to run out of resources if a dungeon pull takes way too long to die.

Ok, this is from my own experience of the current state of the game on a legacy, highly populated server. Keep in mind it is holiday week as well. But the game is not active like it normally is. Even in droughts during Endwalker, i have never seen it this lifeless in cities and friends I know who have played regularly for years simply stopped signing in. Their reason was the Chaotic release frustrated them as they still have nothing else to do (they don't raid).

These aren't what I would call casual players. Maybe mid core some of them. As for me, I have been logging in less also. I do not do high end raids. I don't enjoy thr design of this games raiding style of memorization and perfect execuation, from everyone. Extremes are the highest I do.

I don't care how much and how often savage and ultimate content comes out. But it has been 6 months or so since DT launch and there is no content I enjoy that is not years old.

This is a problem whether you are a raider or not one. I am giving them until 7.2 to see where they are going but if the direction now is hard content then I don't have a reason to play anymore. Alot feel this way too. Chaotic I think was a tipping point in frustration for many non-raiders. Either way, this current trajectory is not healthy for the game. Especially since MSQ is bad. The MSQ and the locales veing what they are have also impacted my vibe of being in the game. It's not exciting. Everyone being happy isn't good art or storytelling. Gloom and a serious threat make worlds compelling. S9 doesn't fill this void.

Edit: yes, I have the hairstyle. I bought it by farming ways of gil making instead of doing the chaotic. Adding this because I know someone will say it since it's in my pic. Gil farming gave me something to do for a few days at least. I guess.

I find it hard to imagine people subscribing to a game through 100 levels that they don't know how to play. They may not play it like you, because they have discovered all the elements that have absolutely nothing to do with high-end combat.

If SQEX first pushed the skill level down as you suggest, presumably in a pursuit of concurrent player counts, then deny the bulk of those players anything to do, there will be friction. As we are seeing increasingly.

    Vive la résistance!

Finalement, Boucles d'or goûta le porridge dans le bol de Bébé Ours. "Miam Miam, ce porridge est parfait!" dit-elle, et elle mangea le bol entier de porridge.

You don't need to imagine. Queue level 100 content in duty finder and pay attention to what your party members are doing. It's incredibly common to see people who heal only with Cure 1/Benefic 1/Physick and just stand around doing nothing when they aren't healing. People who only press 123, ignore the rest of their kit and complain about "button bloat". People with <30% uptime who don't know what the global cooldown is or that they should keep it rolling and press off globals between those abilities.

I'm not talking about people who aren't good at the game, I mean people who don't understand how the combat system works at a basic level.

The game does absolutely nothing to help or encourage people to learn how it works, so they don't bother. You can't even really blame them. It's a game design problem.
