Strange floating orb in Ishgard

LHi,

Was walking around Ishgard and saw this strange animated speech cloud with ellipsis inside it which had two green rings circling it.

At first I thought it was some player emot, but this was just floating in mid air. Has anyone else encountered this before? Felt really novel and strange

Ishgard or Coerthas? What was the exact location?

Are you sure there wasn't an NPC somewhere further in the distance? They can have speech bubbles on them, though that wouldn't account for the green rings.

Was it attached to a fixed point in the air you could walk around or was it off in the distance or steady on your screen?

Looks like one of the silence/stuns from PvP which I guess may also be a PvE skill.

Exact location:

Ishgard, Brume, just next to the Forgotten Knight.

It might be a bug, I'm not 100% certain but it looks like the icon for the "have a npc follow you to specific points and speak to NPCs" thing added with EW - the icon in question looks like the one above an optional NPC you can speak to when doing so. If it's showing up when you don't have such a quest active, then it's probably a bug that needs to be reported.

Don't think so. Things like this show up on Onsal every now and then. Holmgang chains dangling in the air for no apparent reason. After a while they go right again.

Looks like what happens to me sometimes. I'll do some type of content and if I go to some areas some effects will be floating in the air which look like parts of the attack effects from other players.

Judging by the official forums lately, it could be the coming of the apocalypse for FFXIV. RIP WoL.
