Why do casual players seem entitled to cosmetic items added in game?

I mean casual players seem largely fine with mounts and shiny weapons and gear being locked behind hard content. Hairstyles are just a bit different because it's baseline character customization and honestly I agree with them even as a hardcore raider. To me it feels like locking an eyebrow shape or eye colour behind raid content and it just doesn't feel like something that should be a 'prestige' or flex item.
