how to easily add more glamour plates

separate glamour plates from jobs. so Viper would have 20 glamour plates, if you switch to white mage, you would get a separate 20 plates, etc. Then add a button for glamours that fit for all jobs "save to all job plates #x"

A lot of people request more glamour plates, and I think this would be the easiest solution.

    thanks for your time

You know how when you installed FFXIV, you have allocated space on your storage drive space for FFXIV, for which the size of the main files generally stays the same unless updates happen? Glamour plates are, even when empty, allocated space in databases. Ignoring how to code the glamourplate-to-jobs logic in, this is something every single account ever created has allocated to them and must be ready at all times.

What you are suggesting is adding +660 glamour plates, by giving each job their own 20 glamour plates. This can't be made out of thin air, ya know. A lot of things would need to change on a system level to make sure this would go flawlessly, for every single character in their database.

Let's stay realistic for a moment and ask for "doubling" the glamour plates first, so we can actually have at least one plate per job and then some spares.

Also you posted in "Localization" which is just language/translation discussion.

Honestly just get rid of glamour plates entirely and double* the size of the Gearset struct so that there's a real gearset and a glamoured gearset in each. One hundred gearsets with dedicated glamours is enough for any practical purposes. While you're at it, add a Title slot and a hairstyle slot to each Gearset.

*in reality it would be less than double because the current Gearsets also store materia data and dye info, and the glamour part can use the existing dye info fields and doesn't need additional materia data.

But also: this is the Localization forum. You want Forum: General Discussion or Forum: User Interface.

Glamour plates aren't connected to jobs in the first place, so your logic doesn't make sense.

The vast majority of glamour plate applications are via gearset link.

Just copy WoW and GW2 transmog system at this point. There is no need for FFXIV's code to be held together by bubblegum and paperclips.

That's irrelevant. Glamour plates exist independently of gearsets; being able to link them doesn't make them inherently linked, so OP's suggestion that we can get more plates by de-linking them doesn't add up.

Even if they were linked to begin with, I doubt we'd just spontaneously be able to "easily" get 20x the plates. The data still has to go somewhere and if they had that much extra available, surely they could give it to us in the current system too.
