    Frame Time/Stuttering issues

There have been a number of posts on the forums about this, but there's so many variations that I want to try and define my (and what I believe to be many others') issue:

Seemingly at random, the game completely stops moving, usually for less than a second, but sometimes more.

To be very clear, this is not network lag (where the game keeps moving but attacks don't go off).

This is not a regular or consistent stutter. It could not happen at all on a given day, or it could happen several times a night.

This is not slowing down, like in a large hunt train or in a busy city.

This is the game completely freezing, often for so little time that it feels like a stutter.

When this happens, I've sometimes noticed my GPU usage in the Task Manager dropping.

I've seen this on a completely fresh install of Windows 11 with no other software than FFXIV installed. I've tried other common remedies like disabling the root association device and turning off windowed game optimizations. I have no controller plugged in nor have I ever used iCue.

My system is a 7800X3D with a 3080Ti and 32GB of DDR5. My motherboard is a Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite AX. My main Windows Drive is a Samsung 980 Pro. I also have a WD Black PCIe 4.0 SSD for games. I've run the system completely at stock speeds with a freshly reset and updated BIOS but still seen the issue. I've tried having the game on both the main drive and the other drive, but seen the issue either way.

My sense from reading the reports of others is that AMD users tend to be more affected, but that may just be that a lot of new systems are built with AMD these days and not actually be causal.

My monitor is a 175Hz ultrawide (yes, the AW3423DW). I've tried Gsync on and off, in-game frame limit on and off, fullscreen and borderless window.

If you have this very specific issue, I'd like to hear about your hardware setup. Especially if you had it and found a fix somehow.

I am seeing this too, and I am not running AMD. It started with 7.15 and my antialiasing seems to work when I log in and stop when I zone, and I'm getting the same stuttering that you described. I've tried resetting my graphics settings, rebooting, forcing AA through the NVidia drivers, and repairing the game. Nothing seems to help. My next step is to roll back the driver and see if that makes any difference. The game is choppy now, too.

    Here's my hardware setup:
    Intel i9-14900KF 3.2 GHZ
    TEAM T-FORCE DELTA 32GB DDR5-6000MHZ
    ASUS Z790 GAMING WIFI7 DDR5 ATX W/ 1GBT LAN, 4 PCIE X
NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 TI SUPER 16GB GDDR6X
    4K LG Monitor

I really should not be seeing stuttering or losing antialiasing on this machine, and neither should you! I think something got borked with the last update.

Ive seen this on my PC too, but since i started to play again for a few days, haven't this last month.
I assume maybe some Background programs, like Chrome or Discord changed and cause this issue. Ive closed Chrome and does not experience it yet.
Maybe its a nvidia driver issue too.

Hmm, I am aware of some issue that Nvidia's Game Filters/Photo mode are having with games that can cause FPS Drops/Stutters.
If you have the Nvidia app installed, maybe see if turning those options off helps?

I use an RTX 4070, and I had small frame drops that started around mid/late December, a little after 7.15 dropped, but turning off those options in the Nvidia app helped there.
Nvidia's working on a fix for the game filter/photo mode FPS drops, last I checked, but fingers crossed you've found some fixes for your situation.

But yes, moral relativism and all that. Case in point - I do not consider you to be truly alive. Ergo, I will not be guilty of murder if I kill you.

Thanks! Could you tell me anything else you have plugged in, like which mouse, which keyboard, etc? At this point it's so hard to figure out what might be different from people not having the issue that I'm looking at the smallest things.

I've seen it on a fresh install of Windows 11 with nothing but the bare driver and FFXIV installed, alas.
