Would you sign up to verify the results of Season 12?

Here's the idea: invite all the top 300 players out to a CC tournament and let them form into teams. Each team doesn't need to be exclusively made up of Top 300 rankers and here's why: the general public is also invited to compete.

It started out as a goofy idea, but in reality I can find ten people to message 300 people pretty easy. And most of these Top 300 players are already on a CC team, so one invite is practically five.

The idea is, if you think people win-traded their way to the top or you just want to take a swing at the king, I want to give yall a chance to put up or shut up.

Plus I just think it's a fun idea lol. How many people on the forums would form up into teams of 5 to sign up for something like this?

I guess if ranked has died already, this can't make it deader.

I think your issue here is that the one group of people who definitely won't sign up for this are these hypothetical win traders, although I have no idea if there are many of them anyway.

Be interested to know how this does, though. It might end up acting as a competitive replacement for ranked, albeit not one that will appeal to solo players.

I already face top rankers every day on the ladder. I don't especially feel like getting ripped to shreds by LPs that have been playing together for ages, where most of their players are 1500+ crystal rating on top of it.

There is some crystal games where when the game hasn't even started you know already it's gonna be a sub 2min game and I'm not expecting it to be different between those LPs and LPs of randoms.

Well, right. This wouldn't actually do what it says on the the tin and "verify season 12 results." It's an opportunity for those who played custom matches instead of ranked to show off their skills. I have no doubt they'd be most effective against "the general public."

Ranked is like conditioning for LP, and most people at the top of the board are on high-level teams as well. There's a few names on the board I don't recognize, but that just makes me want to invite them out even more. I gotta see how cracked they are, and if they decline well then all they get is a spot on the leaderboard for season 12 and nothing more.

And yeah this wouldn't be a tournament where we expect an unheard of rookie to win the whole thing. But even taking a game off of some of these teams would turn heads and legitimize the board.

anyone who makes it to platinum/diamond, and crystal gets to fight top players on the regular

i have learned to recognize who they are by cross referencing them with the rankings square publishes, too
