Log-in queues

Can anyone who actually works for Square Enix explain to me why I am forced to wait EVERY time I log in simply so people can be logged in for DAYS at a time in the same place, doing NOTHING because they are AFK? I have seen the same people sitting in the same position for multiple days never moving, while I...a PAYING CUSTOMER am forced to wait when i want to play. That is ridiculous and a waste of energy!

Because the servers can only handle a certain amount of players at any one time. You are not the only player in the game, so it's just something that has to be dealt with (and speaking as a player on Balmung, traditionally the most congested server, my login queues are never really longer than... ten to twenty seconds usually.). If minutes are going by and it's not logging you in, then perhaps try playing at a non 'peak' time of day for your data centre area (aka: late afternoon, early to mid evening til about midnight in that data centre's region).

It could be so much worse, it could be how login was like at EW's launch in late 2021 with 5000+ players in the queue and waiting literally hours to advance for weeks.

I realize I am not the only player but i am specifically referring to people who stay logged in ALL the time and the system doesnt boot them out. I see the same characters in the exact same position for days at a time, never moving. These people are not playing the game, they are just taking up space. If this was not allowed, there would rarely be queues at all. The amount of time spent in the queue is irrelevant when people are wasting resources by just being there and not even being at the computer for days on end. People should be DC'd after 1 hour of AFK.
