Virtual Reality and MMORPGs

If anyone is familiar with .HACK series/game or Sword Art what are your opinions on a device that would allow us to explore our world of XIV in VR? Is it possible in the future, and if the price was a steep $300+ (estimate) would you buy it? Pros vs Cons? Opinions?

lol As long as it noting like sword art if i die ingame i die in real life then i play it the only problem i see would it have a health issue i see people wanting to stay in the VR world vs living there real life but i guess that a issue now with games anyways.

I would buy it if it A save and B does not cost so much.

I have used something like this. The university I went to had something like this that allowed you to explore 3D renderings (Architectual). It would be exhorbitantly expensive. This kind of technology is long way off outside of advanced research facilities. You wouldn't believe what was required to run the one I tried out, and that was nowhere near what it would take to pull off in a MMO

It would be cool, but yeah, as above poster stated, I think it'll be quite a while before the technology is accessible enough to make it cost-effective.

I've wondered if it would it be good enough to use something like the Kinnect motion control together with a visor type of display. Might be kind of fun. ^^

Something like Sword Art Online would be badass, death upon death, that'll bring new meaning to gaming.

Just wait for the Oculus Rift to come out. I'm buying one on day one. It won't be true VR, but dammit it's a step in the right direction.

only problem with VR is that once you log off for the night, people tend to suffer nausea from their eyes readjusting to actual reality. This is one of the main reasons why the technology has never caught on.

Case in point: Virtual Boy Aka the only Nintedo console that ever bombed
