I think their whole point is they don't want a tag next to their name, which making your own fc doesn't accomplish

Well, with what you have currently, you bite the bullet and make your own FC and enjoy the extra storage in terms of FC chest and the peace of mind that comes from not getting spammed.

Until they implement an auto decline that isn't the /busy status.

Ehhh... I'd call it uncommon, not quite rare. I've had my search comment say something to that effect for years, but will still occasionally get invites from people that don't bother looking because they're just spamming invites to everyone in player search that doesn't already belong somewhere.
