This may not be much, but is better than the crap we're getting right now. When you start the event, you get the normal quest line but once you complete the main story of the event, it opens up 3 dailies that you can do to earn *SnowFlakes* currency.
Dailies-
1. You have to fly on Santa sly and throw gifts down at the kids in some of the towns outside the main cities
2. Throw a snowball at 10 different players
3. Defeat the Evil Grinch in a Fate
Rewards-
100 Flakes -Mount,
50 Snowflakes - Minion,
80 Snowflakes - Glamour weapons,
40 Snowflakes- Housing items
Not a bad idea to have an allied society-like system for it! But it really depends on how much 'snowflakes' you get in total per day. The last thing I want is FOMO anxiety that I need to log in every single day during the holidays to do my dailies so I don't miss out on rewards![]()
/shrug add a fate you can farm instead. Maybe make a christmas themed moogle with a santa hat fight you can get a rare mount drop from each year (ala headless horseman in wow) make that moogle attack the cities every so often for fates to get the currencyNot a bad idea to have an allied society-like system for it! They could use the Mogpendium format for it too
Journey trough the snow:
Complete Stone vigil - 5 flakes
Complete Snowcloak - 5 flakes
Complete Lapis Manalis - 5 flakes
Etc etc
Queen of frost:
Defeat Shiva (Hard) - 10 Flakes
Cold catch:
Fish the Matriarch - 50 Flakes
Etc etc... they could expand it to almost every aspect of the game, tag snoflakes into roulettes too and boom, you have lots of incentives to play the game more during the event
Dress everything/everyone in those dungeons in Christmas (Starlight) clothes and add decorations all over the place. Shiva's theme is now played on traditionally festive instruments and it's re-arranged accordingly. They could use the Mogpendium format for it too

That'd be pretty cute
I like when the developers do little things like that. For instance during the event where we got the tonberry outfit, we could see the scholar NPCs again and I thought that was fun
There was even that mini dungeon that we entered to save people from the demons at some point, or the valentines day maze
Imagine if they were to make a sort of haunted house
I know we can sometimes go into haukke manor and dress up as random NPCs, but I mean an actual haunted house with things trying to scare us
In regards to dailies, people who can't play every day, maybe just once a week, would have a huge disadvantage to get the event rewards. When you start the event, you get the normal quest line but once you complete the main story of the event, it opens up 3 dailies that you can do to earn *SnowFlakes* currency.

I understand what you are saying, but to me it's a double-edged sword.
Day 1 I would be excited to see what is new, day 2 I would be vibing, by day 3 I would be tired of the chores and busywork, and it would blend into the background for "shit I am not mentally present doing", and I would really not find particularly interesting either, hell I'd be immensely annoyed if the minigames took more effort than Society daily, because then it would both be boring, and require enough attention for it to click with me how boring it is.
I agree that past rewards should be purchasable in-game rather than paid item store, but that's almost a different issue in my eyes, if about the same subject.
I kinda miss the seasonal bosses that WoW had, like the Greench and Coren Direbrew. I wouldn't mind if they had a trial that returned each year that you can get new rewards each time it comes back. Can have like a level 50 version and a max level hard version.
As for people crying about your idea being too much work...well it's why we now have events where all you do is talk to a couple NPCs. They complain about the game being too much work then complain about the game being dumbed down.
